| DESIGN NAME: Shan Mai Food PRIMARY FUNCTION: Humanity and Environment INSPIRATION: Taiwan has breathtaking natural beauty and cultures. Caring about Taiwan's humanities and cultures. SHAN MAI introduces seven special gift box designs with the theme of unique conservation of biological species and plants in Taiwan. We hope to convey Taiwan's abundant beauty and culture through these packages to the world. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Instead of focusing on developing new flavors in the past, this time SHAN MAI FOOD emphasizes the concept of Taiwan's humanities and cultures. We have introduced seven special gift box designs with the theme of unique conservation of ecological species and plants in Taiwan. Incorporating unique packaging elements, we hope these not only can remind people of a nostalgic taste of Taiwan but also a deeper understanding between humanity and the environment. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: SHAN MAI FOOD, a well-known pastry company located in Taichung, Taiwan, always pays tribute to local cultures since its establishment 50 years ago. With these special gift box designs, SHAN MAI has successfully use the brand’s publicity and brand power to promote conservation issues and enhance people’s awareness of environmental protection. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We adopt vibrant colors to describe dynamics in nature. On the packages, you can see several combinations of distinctive animal and plant. Inside the boxes, there are images of news reporting ideas of environmental conservation. With different sizes of boxes and contents, each box carries great stories of Taiwan's humanity and nature. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: SHAN MAI TARO CAKE(BANQUET DESSERT) Size：L27*W21*H4.5c TAGS: Taiwan，SHAN MAI FOOD， RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We have studied much unique conservation of ecological species and plants in Taiwan. Starting from abundant taro cultivation in central Taiwan, we showcase taro fields and leopard cats in Dajia region, azalea and Mikado pheasants on Jade Mountain, Tung blossoms and owls in Miaoli, pot marigolds and endangered Oncorhynchus Formosanus, Formosan black bears and maple leaves on Central Mountain Ridge, fireflies and ferns, as well as butterflies and biodiversity in Kaohsiung. Inspired by seven distinctive animal and plant combinations, we integrate conservation into our packaging designs to deliver ecosystem knowledge and diversity from Taiwan to the world. CHALLENGE: Our challenge is to find out the connection between local brands and Taiwanese culture and to integrate conservation ideas into packaging designs. Eventually, we use the brand's publicity and brand power to promote conservation issues and enhance people's awareness of environmental protection. NAME: SHAN MAI FOOD PROFILE: Shan Mai Food Company, founded in 1967, introduced the first taro pastry with Dajia taro in 1998. The filled stuffing and fresh taste not only make Shan Mai Taro pastry well-known in Taiwan but also win the award of dessert of the State Banquet. Another important thing is to raise the income level of farmers and the cost-effectiveness of Dajia Taro agriculture. |
