Interview with VOATT Design Studio at Friday 24th of May 2019

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
WL: We believe that good design can make life better. At the same time, we hope to combine aesthetics with space to make interior design closer to people's lives and senses.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
WL: We hope that the busy worker in a busy city can have good sports space, where they can release stress and boost the production of endorphins.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
WL: I will be committed to continuing to create and provide better interior design for people.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
WL: The design was inspired by my participation in a spinning bike course and watched the movie "John Wick".

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
WL: We planned to create a space that combines vision and auditory interactions, allowing athletes to enjoy a psychedelic exercise experience.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
WL: We believe that every design is unique. We don't think the same design is suitable for every space, but a good design can improve the quality of life and aesthetics of space.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
WL: The film “John Wick” and “Batman”.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
WL: My partner proposed the concept of combining geometric aesthetics with space.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
WL: People who love exercising or ride spinning bike.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
WL: In our design, the neon light changes provide visually and audibly different experience for the user.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
WL: "HAPPY HOUR" means that people will feel happy when they produce brain endorphins after exercise.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
WL: Sketch, construction drawing, 3D render and model making.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
WL: The symmetric circular mirror combines spatial aesthetic.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
WL: We worked with neon illuminative sellers to create this spinning bike room with different lighting ambiances and solve the problem of uneven lighting.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
WL: We studied the ergonomics of cycling bicycles and actually experienced the process of a spinning bike course.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
WL: How to create a glowing ceiling is the main goal of our challenge.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
WL: We would like to communicate with designers from more countries to learn about better designs from around the world.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
WL: We learned how to create a psychedelic exercise space with different lighting experiments.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
WL: Create your own inspiration and ideas for each design case.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
