Ismail Niyaz Mohamed, the creative mind behind the awarded photography project Coming of Age demonstrates “In Japan, Coming of Age is celebrated when girls and boys turn twenty years old. It is an important occasion when they leave their teens and become adults with rights, responsibilities and liberties. It is a formal once in a lifetime event. The girls customarily wear kimono and the boys kimono or Western suit.
