Peilun Li, the creative mind behind the winning design Qing explains “The designer tries to refurbish a new architectural language which goes with the remained parts. Two solid blocks are designed to lower traffic interference. The retracted entrance space is set between them. The largest addition is the cantilever on the west side. The French windows interweave the tree shadows and water waves to the inside. Besides the window glass, the use of materials is simplified to two elements: blue brick and white wall, which are common in Chinese traditional architecture.
