Kenichiro Oomori, the lead designer of the winning design Sinafu Stand explains “Sinafu Stand was designed as a daily tool that fits the modern life by utilizing traditional Japanese woodworking techniques. The plate and foot plate of this compote share common characteristics. And the soft outline that extends from the extremely thin stem to the plate emphasizes cuteness and is designed to fit in the hand to beautify the gesture that serves the dish. This shape is impossible without advanced craftsmanship.
