Yullin Wang of MPI Design LLC., the creative mind behind the winning work Hsichih Mazu Temple explains “A temple that is free from the traditional framework. The design is based on light as the core, gathering the local humanities, geography and culture, and using the oriental style of calligraphy combined with the western gothic architecture. Reinterpretation of traditional temple architecture symbols, and inclusion of traditional temple structure and elements, with a minimalist shape, replacing the tangible with the intangible.
