Xinmeng Dong, the designer of the award winning design Hi Sea says “Conceived as a floating island, this hotel is located 500 meters off the coast of China’s southern fujian province. The buoyant project offers guests unrivaled views of the water as well as spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Its remote location meant that the architects had to consider environmental factors such as ocean currents and monsoons. Balance Design studied fish rafts in order to ensure buoyancy, while it was also important that the structure could withstand hurricanes.
