Go Fujita's Private Villa in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture Wins Silver A' Design Award
Architect Go Fujita's Vision for a Tranquil and Immersive Living Space
Architect Go Fujita's S House, a refined three-story concrete exposed house located in Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture, has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2024. The design, inspired by the Japanese perspective, blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior, creating a tranquil and immersive living space.
Due to its proximity to neighboring apartment buildings and a busy road, the emphasis of the S House was placed on blocking sightlines and noise. The design incorporates gently rising exterior walls of varying heights, creating a semi-outdoor approach that gradually fades the sounds of the outside world as one progresses. The interior features rough yet delicate tatami-finished walls adorned with contemporary art, while the living area is filled with a sense of openness, softly illuminated by sunlight streaming through double-height windows.
The design's unique feature lies in its ability to seamlessly blend the elements of interior and exterior, movement and stillness, resulting in a rich and evocative ambiance. Fujita's architectural approach aims to create spaces that move people through a harmonious fusion of Japanese materials and methods, as showcased in the S House.
