Taishun Design Competition Showcases Unique Visual Communication Artwork by Kan Zhao

Kan Zhao's artwork inspired by the unique bridge in Taishun, symbolizing the connection between tradition and the future, is set to transform the 2022 Zhejiang Taishun County Cultural and Creative Design Competition.

Kan Zhao's artwork, inspired by the unique bridge in Taishun called "Dingbu," symbolizes the connection between tradition and the future. The design incorporates visual symbols of Taishun, such as mountains, bridges, and dragon dances, creating a brand-new landscape painting. The project started in April 2022, completed in September 2022, and officially launched in October 2022. The design attracted over a thousand entries from all over the country and received attention from multiple media, greatly enhancing the social influence of Taishun's cultural.

The competition aims to attract attention from college students and designers, encouraging them to participate and transforming the event into a locally iconic cultural event. The design takes into account the aesthetic needs of young people, employing popular forms of expression and material usage to provide a satisfying visual experience. The combination of graphic designs with 3D renderings represents a novel visual experiment in communicating the essence of Taishun city.

The artwork received the Silver A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. Kan Zhao, an Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at Zhejiang Gongshang University, has been engaged in brand and VI design for 18 years and has won awards such as the Red Dot Award, IF Design Award, Hong Kong Global Design Award, and Hiiibrand Award.
