Blankspace Unveils Ikebana Cultural Space "Looping Flower" in Fuzhou City

Blankspace introduces "Looping Flower," an Ikebana Cultural Space, designed by Ni Jie Guo, in Fuzhou City, China, aiming to blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern architectural language.

Blankspace unveils "Looping Flower," an Ikebana Cultural Space designed by Ni Jie Guo, located in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. The space, spanning 105 sqm, is envisioned as a venue for experimental art exhibitions and cultural exchange, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary architectural language.

The design draws inspiration from the flow of grass and moon, reinterpreting traditional Japanese architecture to create a tranquil and immersive atmosphere. The space features floor-to-ceiling glass windows, allowing ample natural light and a seamless transition between the interior and exterior environments.

Utilizing innovative spatial design, the space addresses high humidity challenges, incorporating movable dark grids and charcoal to reduce moisture infiltration. The design also emphasizes the ceremonial experience of entering the space, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the ambience and find respite from the outside world.

Blankspace's design team overcame storage constraints by strategically utilizing the available space to ensure a clean and organized environment. The space's unique features include three gradual elevations, symbolizing the transition from public to private, enhancing the overall spatial experience.

Ni Jie Guo's design approach integrates traditional Japanese architectural elements with modern materials, creating a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary aesthetics. The project commenced in August 2022 and was completed in December 2022, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and innovative spatial narratives.

The "Looping Flower" Ikebana Cultural Space was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically embodies experience and resourcefulness. Blankspace continues to push the boundaries of interior design, striving to deliver exceptional and fitting design solutions across commercial, public, and private spaces.
