Let Your Client Pay
The A’ Design Award and Competition is a highly prestigious design award that provides public relations, outreach and marketing benefits to its winners. Especially award winning companies benefit highly from taking part thanks to the feature rich winners’ kit that is granted free of charge to the laureates. For companies, the following A’ Design Prize components are especially valuable: 1. Lifetime usage license for the “award winner” logo, 2. The winner certificate, 3. Good Design Mark. Furthermore, unlike other very prestigious design accolades, the A’ Design Award and Competition does not have further fees, and many services such as using the award winning logo and others are provided free of charge. Taking part in the A’ Design Award is also a very effective marketing strategy, therefore you could easily ask your clients to take part in the competition or ask them to cover for your entry fees. To provide another level of incentive, the entry fees are significantly reduced, if companies join via their designers; in other words, if companies asks their designers to join the competition on their behalf, they get to receive the same benefits with less fees paid. A’ Design Award and Competition provide subsidy to designers, and for this reason designers pay significantly less than companies when making a nomination, this means that if a company would join via their designer (asking the designer to make an account and nominate the design and indicate the company as the client), they would pay very little compared to what they would pay if the company would join themselves.
How to make your Client Pay
First of all you should contact your client and explain the A’ Design Award as well as its benefits and the A’ Design Prize. Later, you should agree on how to separate the A’ Design Prize; for example who will own books, framed certificates, trophies etc. (you could order additional kits or duplicates for team-members or the company but it is good idea to discuss who would pay for that in advance) 2. Some items can be used mutually, for example the winner logo can be used by both you and your client, furthermore a bespoke certificate can be created for your client and you could share many of the marketing benefits. Once your client agrees to take part, you as the designer should create an account and upload the design, and for the client/brand section, use your client details. You should ask the client to pay for the nomination fee or you could pay the nomination fees yourself and bill your client later. It is good to know that many professional designers also make it a part of their contract that “if you were to win A’ Design Award, the client would pay for the nomination fees as well as eventual duplicate trophies or kits” since many clients would indeed like to receive a trophy afterwards. The best way to get the company to sponsor your nomination is by getting a high-preliminary score.
Good to Remember
This participation way is good for those who were commissioned for a work by a company. Using this method, you ask the company who initially hired you for design to sponsor your entry.
Win & Win
It is a win-win situation for you and the company who support you to join this way; your entry fees are covered by your sponsoring company who had initially hired you for your design and you receive the A’ Design Prize, while the sponsoring company pays a very little fees compared to what the company would otherwise pay for nomination as an enterprise account and still receive the A’ Design Award “winner logo” as well as additional exposure and publicity for a small cost.
