#495: We do not have a Logo, what do we put to the Logo section of the entry? Can we just leave it blank?
A Logo is a graphic mark, emblem, icon, seal, monogram, ideogram, image, visual or symbol used to aid and promote public recognition. It may be of an abstract or figurative design or include the text of the name it represents as in a logotype or wordmark. When making an entry to the A’ Design Award, you may place a Logo in a separate section called Client / Studio / Brand details which would be displayed together with your design only if your design is announced as a winner or runner-up and the Logo will not be displayed to jurors during the voting process. Regardless of the fact that the Logo is not needed during voting, while making an entry we still ask participants to provide a Logo, so that later, participants do not need to rush to upload a Logo for their award winning designs. We ask the Logo in advance, because for almost all participants, Logo is super important; every designer, agency, brand or individual wants to have their Logo displayed with their design to ensure a quick visual communication of their brand identity. Logo is important. If you do not have a Logo, you can absolutely leave that section blank; the system will keep asking you the Logo, because it is important, but you can resist and not provide one. However, if you have the time or resources, we would strongly advise you to develop a Logo or symbol. If you are unable to develop your own Logo, you might work with a local graphic designer to help you with this. For an artists, the Logo could be based on an over-stylized version of their own signature, for brands, designers and design agencies, an effective logo may consist of both an ideogram and the brand name to emphasize the name over the graphic, and employ a unique design via the use of letters, colours, and additional graphic elements. In summary, logo is optional, but we will still keep asking it, and we strongly advise you to come up with a logo instead of leaving it blank, but if you really must, you could leave it blank; and also just to remind you that the Logo uploaded to the Client / Studio / Brand section is not even visible during the voting and evaluation of the entry.
