ABDB Designs is a multidisciplinary atelier designing & handcrafting high end furniture and luxury interior accent paneling, by way of our patent pending process of embedding recycled cross-cuts of end grain in resin.

ABDB stands for 'Au Bout Du Bois' in French, which translates to 'At the end of the grain' or 'At the end of the wood' in English. ABDB Designs was founded in 2016 and launched in November of 2017 by co-founders Djivan Schapira & Andrew James. The son of a world class custom furniture maker, Djivan is a 25-year old French immigrant who handles the design and manufacturing, while Andrew, a 27-year old Chicago Native handles business development, partnerships, and organizational management. ABDB Designs kicked off their launch in strong fashion via Kickstarter, by funding their overall goal by 120% and immediately acquiring a community of supporters who loved the work enough to make a purchase. Since the Kickstarter, ABDB Designs Founder, Designer, and Head Maker Schapira has released his debut collection through ABDB, as well as a number of 1/1 pieces - ultimately expanding the product line into end tables, cocktail tables, wall hangings, unique pieces, and accent paneling. ABDB Designs has also completed a series of commercial projects in the hospitality and restaurant industries at locations such as the Hoxton Hotel LA, and Blind Barber Chicago. In addition to their off the shelf collection of furniture, ABDB specializes in collaborating with interior designers and architects alike, to produce captivating original pieces and installations, by way of their patent pending process of stylistically embedding recycled discs of end grain in colorful resin. The process is as customizable as it is versatile, whether it's the end grain diameter, end grain design, resin color, or installation size. Additionally, the process is applicable to nearly any flat surface, truly allowing our partners and end-clients to start with a blank canvas. While we at ABDB are a furniture company, we are also a culture company. From curating our own experiential marketing pop-ups, to collaborating with other companies and artists, to creating video recaps and marketing content never before seen in the industry, we're proud to be expanding the conventional boundaries and having some fun while we're at it.
