STROMAN DESIGN | FORM X FUNCTION™ is a multidiscipline design studio founded by Thomas Stroman. The studio is currently developing innovative ergonomic products within the space of human-computer interaction that prioritize human health and wellbeing.

The studio’s approach to ergonomic design is based on their FORM X FUNCTION™ principle and is credited with producing award winning products that maintain a high degree of modern functionality and elegance. The studio's first product launch, the Chotto™ ( chair + ottoman ), was recognized with a Bronze A’Design Award in 2018 and is the foundation of the studio's innovative ergonomic design approach. Unlike most upright “ergonomic” chairs that produce unwanted muscle fatigue, spinal compression and poor circulation, the Chotto places the body within a relaxed Neutral Body Posture and on an entirely flexible seating surface that leverages gravitational force to actively decompress both the cervical and lumbar spine. This unique combination of a recumbent seating posture and an adaptive seating surface minimizes the unwanted muscle fatigue, spinal compression and poor circulation that develops when sitting upright in a typical “ergonomic” chair. The Chotto is functionally enhanced with a portable work surface that can be nested within the frame to support any materials or devices such as a laptop or keyboard while seated, or placed within the rear-mounted support brackets and used as standing desk. An optional pivoting display interface can be used vertically as a standing desk or rotated forward and used while in the recumbent seated position. The studio’s second product introduction, The Task Tray™, is a highly adaptable and portable workstation that allows any materials or devices to transition with the body throughout a wide range of ergonomically desirable postures including any standing, sitting, reclining, recumbent or horizontal posture. Two side-mounted, quick-release and self-locking mechanisms allow the work surface to be incrementally adjusted within 11 unique positions throughout a wide, 150-degree range of motion and allow the Task Tray to be wall-mounted.
