JOHANENLIES is a Berlin based interior design studio specializing in furniture made of recycled materials.

Making old new defines the key concept of JOHANENLIES. JOHANENLIES stands for Dutch inspired interior design made of recycled building timber and was founded in March 2015 by Mike Raaijmakers in Berlin. Through upcycling old planks, which didn’t find any further use at the construction site, JOHANENLIES transforms them into new life. A very sustainable cycle, which requires a conscious dealing with the natural resource wood. Through this process every pieces becomes its very unique character. This basic principle originates from the Netherlands, native country of founder Mike Raaijmakers, where people have been working with old building timber for a considerable time. The design concept of JOHANENLIES combines this traditional craftsmanship with an industrial, contemporary look of clear shapes and colors. The collection, designed in Berlin and handmade in Germany, includes tables, beds, shelves and sideboards.
