Pircanato is an architectural startup dedicated to developing Plastidobe, an innovative construction system that combines recycled plastic and rammed earth to create sustainable, affordable, and resilient housing.

Plastidobe was born as our father Willy Gómez’s dream. A renowned architect in the world of gaming and entertainment, he created remarkable works across the globe — the Admiral Arena Prater and the Luckia Casino Arica, to name a couple. However, his true dream was to use architecture to address social gaps, specifically the access to bioclimatic housing. Moreover, our father was a nature lover. The inspiration for all his creations always came from his garden, which is why the idea for this innovation was born under the principle that earth is the best building material — for its thermal, economic, and ecological properties.In 2016, faced with the effects of climate change, such as the frost that impacted nearly 500,000 Peruvians and the El Niño phenomenon that left over 600,000 families homeless, our father decided it was time to put all his experience into creating an innovation that could help in such situations. That’s how the concept of Plastidobe was born, and with it, we won the A’Design Award — the world’s largest design competition, held annually at Lake Como, Italy — in the category of Building Materials, Construction Components, Structures, and Design Systems for 2016–2017.From that moment on, we got to work refining the concept and every detail. Then, in 2019, we founded Pircanato to make Plastidobe a reality. This architectural startup emerged alongside the construction of the first prototype module in our garden, followed by two prototypes built at PUCP’s seismic-resistant structures laboratory, where the technology was tested, achieving spectacular results.
