SUMMARY: TADECO Home is a livelihood project of TADECO Inc. The company initiates community development projects to provide livelihood programs and promote the cultural heritage and native artistry of Mindanao ethnic tribes. FURTHER DETAILS: Tadeco Livelihood is a community development program of Tagum Agricultural Development Co., Inc. (TADECO Inc.),a leading banana exporter in Mindanao. TADECO, a primary producer of abaca in 1950’s that shifted to banana production in 1969, undertakes community development programs for its workers and their families. One such programs is TLTC which initiates livelihood programs that put to good use the time and potentials of the idle family members of the workers. • Over the years, TLTC has grown from base of 20 dependents to more than 300 workers, highly trained in making export-quality handicrafts from indigenous materials. Among its highly sought products is the natural paper processed from banana, pineapple or abaca fibers, made into stationeries, paper bags, gift boxes and other environment-friendly, novelty items. • Today, TLTC extends beyond company borderlines to promote social awareness in the cultural restorations and preservation of the customs and traditions of Mindanao ethnic tribes. It’s T’boli and Mandaya Weaving centers produced tribal cloths, popularly known as T’nalak and Dagmay, woven by natives using blackstrap looms .These tribal cloths bear traditional designs handed down by their ancestors and have become part of TLTC’s more popular product lines such as beaded cushions, placemats, votives, vases and other novelty item.
