About Arezoo M Fard : I am a multidisciplinary artist and designer dedicated to exploring the hidden beauty and potential of overlooked natural materials. I create innovative, sustainable artworks that bridge art, fashion, and environmental activism. My work focuses on using organic textures—like fruit peels and recyclable materials—to develop eco-friendly textiles and sculptures that inspire curiosity and raise awareness about ecological responsibility and the challenges of our Anthropocene era. I aim to transform waste into meaningful, tactile experiences that invite viewers to reconsider their relationship with nature and sustainability. I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work centers on revealing the hidden potential of often-overlooked materials. I seek to awaken viewers’ curiosity by drawing attention to the unique textures and organic elements that surround us—such as fruit peels, rigid surfaces, and recyclable waste. These natural materials, typically discarded in everyday life, are the foundation of my practice. With a background in fashion design, I combine artistic creation with sustainable thinking, crafting innovative textile solutions using fruit-based textures and organic surfaces. My work bridges the worlds of art, fashion, and environmental activism, exploring how design can be both expressive and ecologically responsible. I hold academic degrees in both Cinema and Theatre, which inform the spatial and performative qualities of my installations. Additionally, my studies in Linguistics enrich the narrative depth of my work, allowing me to communicate environmental themes in ways that are both poetic and accessible. At the core of my practice is a commitment to investigating alternatives to synthetic and chemical-based materials. I advocate for responsible waste management and emphasize the importance of creating beauty from what is usually considered waste. Much of my recent work focuses on issues linked to the Anthropocene—a geological age defined by human impact on Earth’s natural systems. This ongoing environmental crisis shapes both the themes and materials I use. I have developed new biodegradable materials with potential applications across creative industries, especially where sustainability and innovation intersect. My research into microscopic organic forms—found in living or dried natural substances—deeply influences the design of my textiles and sculptures. These microstructures, when scaled or reinterpreted, become the source of both visual inspiration and functional design strategies. By bringing together biology, material science, and visual storytelling, my work creates a dialogue between surface, texture, and form. It invites audiences to reflect on their relationship with nature, consumption, and the potential of regenerative design. Through this practice, I aim to challenge conventional boundaries between art and science, natural and synthetic, seen and unseen—offering a new vision rooted in ecological awareness and tactile exploration.
