About Tasha Lapidus : Tasha Lapidus is an innovator in biomaterial design, specializing in biodegradable materials that respond to the environment and return to nature with zero trace. She explores living materials, ethical design practices, and the creation of regenerative cycles connecting nature, technology, and society. Through exhibitions, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration, she promotes sustainable innovation and responsible material use. Tasha Lapidus is the creator of FiberClay, a plant-fiber material engineered for applications across eco-architecture, fashion, functional design, and other industries. "I believe that almost everything essential has already been created by nature and time." My role as a designer is not to invent endlessly, but to listen carefully, to observe, and to join gently the living cycles that already exist. Design, for me, begins with humility: recognizing the intricate relationships already at work between materials, environments, and beings - and extending them with care. I do not see design as an external layer of beauty or a mechanical solution to isolated problems. True design is a living process. It is a system that grows, breathes, and evolves naturally, much like ecosystems themselves. It does not arise from artificial needs, but from a desire to support and amplify the organic flows of life. "This understanding leads inevitably to an ethical foundation." If design is alive, it must be kind. It must be thoughtful toward all participants: the earth, human communities, the wisdom of the past, and the dreams of the future. Nature is not a resource to be used but a partner to be honored. The past gives us hands, traditions, and intimate knowledge of cycles. The future offers us the possibility to dream, to innovate, and to imagine with hope. When these forces (nature, humanity, past, and future) interact in balance, design becomes more than a product. It becomes a living bridge between what has been, what is, and what could be. "The aesthetics of such a design reach deeper than form or appearance." Living design holds potential - the potential to regenerate, to heal, to inspire new processes that multiply naturally across disciplines and cultures. It is not merely sustainable by necessity; it is sustainable by nature, because it belongs to the logic of life itself. This is where sustainability is born: not as an obligation, but as a natural outcome of living with respect. True sustainability is not about technical fixes or surface-level solutions; it is about designing with the same intelligence that life itself uses: the intelligence of cycles, regeneration, simplicity, and quiet continuity. In this vision, art and design merge. They cease to be separate categories and become different expressions of the same living sensitivity. They embody kindness, slowness, intuition, and care - principles I believe are essential for the future we want to build. "Kindness is the goal." Through every object, every material, every gesture, I seek to cultivate systems that are not only functional or beautiful but alive - able to grow, dissolve, and return, like all things that truly belong to the earth. This is the meaning of Living Design for me: to participate, not to dominate; to heal, not to consume; to simplify, not to complicate; to create spaces of understanding, relationships of trust, and a future shaped by gentle innovation.
