About Fabrizio Tortone : Fabrizio Tortone is an industrial designer from Argentina based in Spain, with experience in product development, furniture, lighting, and collectible design. His work focuses on the interaction between materials, processes, and form, often exploring contemporary aesthetics. With a background in high-demand studio environments, he has contributed to multidisciplinary projects across multiple cultural contexts. His practice is rooted in a conceptual approach to design, with emphasis on clarity, context, and material presence. Through his work, he engages with objects as tools for experience, reflection, and dialogue. STATEMENT OF ART:What draws me to design is its ability to distill complexity into something essential, an object that speaks with silence, yet says a lot. I see design and art as two fields that often overlap but follow different impulses. While art has the freedom to exist for itself, design carries a responsibility: to be used, to be inhabited, to respond. But that doesn’t mean it must be devoid of emotion or poetry. I believe good design invites reflection. It speaks through material, proportion, and atmosphere. It’s not only about function, but about meaning and experience. In my work, I’m particularly interested in the dialogue between materials and processes, especially when traditional crafts meet contemporary technologies. I believe every project is an opportunity to test the limits of what’s expected, while staying honest to the essence of the object. I often start from a conceptual place: a gesture, a tension, a small narrative. From there, the piece takes shape through iteration, always with attention to how it will exist in space and time, how it will be touched, how it will wear, how it might even age. That’s where design becomes more than just a solution: it becomes presence. I’m inspired by the idea that objects can be both grounded and open. That they can feel familiar and new at the same time. I try to avoid trends or overcomplication. Instead, I search for clarity, character, and a sense of permanence. Design, for me, is a form of listening, to the material, to the context, to the people. And when it’s done well, it becomes a quiet companion to life.
