About Rufei Wang : Rufei Wang is currently a Senior Environmental Designer and Project Manager working at Atelier Ten USA LLC based in New York. Rufei is a frequent visiting critic and lecturer in many universities, including Wellesley College, the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, Northeastern University, Iowa State University, and the City University of New York. She holds a Master in Design Studies Degree from Harvard University with a concentration in Energy and Environment, a Master of Arts Degree from the Technical University of Munich in Architecture with a specialization in Sustainable Building, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Harbin Institute of Technology. Rufei has applied her multidisciplinary design approach to a diverse set of projects in a wide range of sectors, with a focus on sustainable design and energy efficiency in the built environment. Her background in both sustainability and architecture equipped her with strong expertise and a unique approach to integrative design and innovative solutions. Rufei is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional specializing in Building Design and Construction (BD+C) and a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC). STATEMENT OF ART:Inevitably, energy issues and climate change are moving to the forefront in the 21st century. Various new challenges are emerging. I strongly believe that architects can and should find solutions facing contemporary environmental and energy issues. The challenges, on the other hand, provide a great opportunity for us to radically rethink the relationship between architecture and our built environment across different scales and disciplines. I believe we can shape a future better than today by optimizing energy efficiency through passive design strategies, adaptive systems etc in the architectural design, and by minimizing carbon emissions through design optimization and smart material selections.
