About Jonathän Jouan : Jonathan is a young cabinet maker who loves stories that make him dream. Therefore, his perspective is based on stories transmission through generations. Giving someone an object that has its scratches and wrinkles can convey a story and an emotion. His thoughts describe the need to keep the past and the knowledge in our current lives. Thus, he likes to use ancestral techniques such as straw marquetry and modern techniques such as wood bending. The use of this technicality that our ancestors used is an important piece of knowledge that could remain in our customs rather than disappear. Design and art are two different things, but they are also intimately linked. They both convey the message of an era and the reflection of a culture. As a result of industrialisation, averagization and globalisation, the mass-produced object at low cost was a guideline. This was done at the expense of people, the environment and many cultures. Today, through design and art, it is the duty of creators to transmit a strong message to teach future generations. Whether it be through the memory of ancestral knowledge, the use of local and renewable materials and where obsolescence and impatience is no longer the motto.
