She obtained degrees in medicine, management and shoe design. On the one hand she is rational and scientific. On the other hand, Annelies is creative and expressive. She likes to design, conduct research and create shoes, jewellery, etc. based on a concrete feeling in order to give it form and meaning.
ART:
For me, art is first and foremost something personal. For me the emphasis in art is on the process of the creative expression of one's feelings and/or ideas. This can be done through word, music, dance, drawing and painting, sculpture, photography and cinema,… I am convinced that there is an artist in each of us, in his/her own way.
Secondly, I see the result as a perpetuation of this process for the person who created the work. I see it as a privilege that this result is shared and that I, as a spectator with an open mind, can learn and grow from it: in developing my own identity, in my relationship with others, my worldview,….
DESIGN:
In design I see the focus rather on the process of designing, developing and producing, in which an innovative vision is implemented and in this way a beautiful, surprising, usable and innovative result is achieved.
