I am a hands-on leader and design-expert, with a strong will and ability to lead teams and individuals to deliver high-quality design solutions, sometimes against the odds, consistently. Throughout my career, I have been working alongside C-Suite leaders, aligning executive vision to customer insight, and removing obstacles so that my team can focus on the design work.
The natural evolution of my design journey has been in Service Design leadership. With my team, we apply Service Design methods and principles to the consumer electronics industry, by mapping and deciphering complex customer and business problems into meaningful hardware and software solutions for the home alarms industry. Notable Recent Achievements: ▪ Alongside the Global Design Director, built a team of 16 highly motivated and talented designers, developed design workflow and processes against a global stageagate process from scratch and embedded them into our team and process partners. ▪ Winner of 3 Red Dot awards in 2020, and 2 IF Design Awards in 2021. ▪ Harnessed the power of Service Design with an initiative focussed on transforming R&D employee process, engagement and experience, which lead to a 14% increase in employee engagement and satisfaction. ▪ Created a Hardware Design System that documents LED, Sound, and Voice interactions and patterns across the portfolio of products. This tool has lead to considerable time savings in the new product innovation process, improved efficiency with system engineers, and helped to save money through extended battery life on our products. ▪ Created a Digital Design Language System framework and governance process that has been rolled out globally across all digital touchpoints. This has considerably reduced the time it takes for the design team to deliver, and reduced the time it takes for developers to code. Additionally, it has united the global visual design of the company. ▪ Guided the C-Suite to make a decision on alarm state iconography, using Human Centred Design as the foundation. ▪ Implemented a service design thinking methodology holistically into all new products and services, striking a balance between physical and digital experiences, rather than a single product focus. This lead to the development of 5 new hardware products. Company Director On-Off Group - Design Consultancy in SEA & UK - January 2015 to July 2017 ▪ Instrumental in the launch, operational service delivery and continued development of the design consultancy. ▪ Worked in partnership with large corporations including, but not limited to, Sun Life Financial, Telstra, and The Cabinet Office. ▪ Responsible for design capability uplift, service design, customer experience mapping, planning and execution, user experience design, and digital strategy. ▪ Successfully launched the UK business in 2016. Co-Founder and UX Director UXMNL - UX Design Consultancy in Manila - October 2013 to January 2015 ▪ Managed a team of local designers and increased the local scene with free events that showcased the skills of designers. ▪ Engaged with the best UX speakers from around the world, generated $100k in revenue in year 1, and created the UX design industry in the Philippines. ▪ Successfully activated the industry of UX Design in the country Experience Director Movent (WPP Group) - Digital Agency in Manila - January 2011 to January 2013 ▪ Created a product development strategy consisting of “off the shelf” campaign solutions providing efficiency and cost-effectiveness for a variety of clients. ▪ Working in partnership with large corporations including (but not limited to KLM, Axe Philippines, Del Monte, and Marlboro). ▪ Managed a team of experienced design professionals and developed product strategies to streamline the flow of digital production. ▪ Secured large UX accounts and took a leading role in developing and recruiting graduates. UX Designer Netbooster Asia - Digital Agency in Manila - March 2007 to July 2009 ▪ Advised and consulted on best practices for campaign execution for all clients and worked in partnership with creative teams to ensure robust customer experiences. ▪ Developed sitemaps and wireframes and guided creative and design teams to create user-friendly websites that are user-centered and structured in a way for development teams to produce. ▪ Successfully developed a usability framework testing service, a web specification template, and upgraded the wireframe process to include detailed HTML prototypes.
