About Suzanne Miller : Suzanne Miller was born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and Scottish father. She moved to England at the age of 6 and has been based in London for most of her life Suzanne was always creative even as a young child, particularly with intricate pattern designs and detailed drawings. She achieved an A'Level in Art and Sculpture followed by a B-tec in Textile Design. She was at art school when she sold her first textile commission, which was a pair of custom-designed silk screen printed curtains. Even though her love for design was a massive part of her life, certain events made it necessary to work and make a living, making it impossible to continue with her studies. The following years were incredibly hard, full of physical and mental abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, who almost caused her to lose confidence in her abilities. Suzanne's eldest daughter was born with Down's Syndrome, which meant most of her time was used to ensure her daughter was leading the fullest life possible. Now all her children have grown up and Suzanne is finally in a good place mentally, she is so excited to what the future might hold for her with regards to her talent for design.
Suzanne has only recently started to work on designs again and with all the technology now readily available, she has been working hard on building up her portfolio and is actively displaying on various websites, where her designs can be purchased.
Suzanne always felt that she saw details in drawings and designs that many people wouldn't notice and she found inspiration by wanting to evolve those intricacies and turn them into her own designs. It recently came to light that Suzanne may have a mild form of autism and she is awaiting the completion of her assessment, but she feels a massive sense of relief because she can now understand how her mind works and why detail is so important to her.
Suzanne is determined to make a success of her work. For her, it's not so much about making money, but more about being able to give enjoyment to others through her art. I love intricate designs and like to add detail. I have a bit of an obsession regarding fabric designs and colours. I am sure its to do with my mild Autism. I used to buy nail varnishes just because I loved the colour, but I wouldn't wear it, I would just look deep into the colour and appreciate the texture. I know it's weird but, it's just me. Last week I went to the Jan Van Eyck Exhibition in Gent in Belgium. The colours and depth of his paintings gave me so much inspiration, particularly The Virgin and Child with Canon Joris Van De Paele (1436) I particularly like the rug which is on the floor in front of the Virgin Mary.
