When I had to choose a university course, it was in a moment I found my passion in music. Therefore everybody discouraged me in my wish for following this path of study. So, as I liked to draw since I was a kid (and didn't feel attracted to any other kind of study area), I chose to study graphic design in the capital of my state. Even without knowing exactly what it was...
Before getting graduated, I discovered a passion and hope of self-accomplishment in film animaiton when I read Richard William's "The Animator's Survival Kit". Thus, as my course didn't teach this subject deeply enough, I went out in search of more information: technique courses of animaiton softwares (Flash and After Effects), books, online video tutorials and an exchange study in Lisbon.
All this made me open my eyes up wide to the meaning and roll of animation and design. Today I feel grateful for having the chance to work in this area (be it motion design or character animation for film/tv). This is where I found my spot between art (self-expression) and design (projecting and communication). Where I can tell stories to somehow bring inspiration for people to accomplish things with more personality and authenticity in this world saturated with industrialized sameness and cheap lifeless processes.
