About shilpa chavan : The USP: each piece is individually crafted telling its own story where craft and technology meet innovatively.
Since the brand does not follow a definite design graph or trend, and rather tends to focus on the aesthetic of design, there is always a requisition for innovation.
Various new techniques are always being discovered, innovated and introduced to ensure quality and fluidity of the product.
It has been consciously decided to approach the industry from a fresh perspective, and aimed to innovate rather than replicate existing models.
The works are a narrative vehicle, and the designs are canvases for our artistic abstractions. Our themes tend to embody unusual dualities like contemporary nostalgia, postmodern vintage and bold femininity.
STATEMENT OF ART:
Design, whether one thinks of my work within Fashion and/or Art, to me is a license to create a movement .. an experience .. to share my mood board and inspirations
When people say Poetry In Motion, it conjures theatre, the enactment of beautifully written poems. There's always a sense of drama being unfolded, subtly and carefully. It's the delivery.
I believe fabric, and the movement of it, is poetry in motion in its own right. I look into the dreamy, wistful and quietly romantic side of poetry to lend its calm charm to the works thus produced. I inject doses of drama, as I'm known to do, but on a more tender backbone.
The meat of the seasons are my version of Vaudeville, and the bones to which the meat sticks on is my love of nostalgia and my love of the performance art!
My work is a culmination of visual diaspora, where concepts and influences range from travel, memories and a need for pushing the boundary.
It draws inspiration from local influences and observations, where pieces in every collection use varied raw materials, fusing ideas collected through travel and multi-cultural interaction.
Each experience, from sensory to the subconscious is individually crafted.
Using fashion as a base, we use different mediums like styling, photography,
videography and art installations as a collective spectrum.
Whichever the current concept, we aim to be a friend of both the sciences and of l’amour.
It is done so by staying ahead of the trends, while still retaining a love for nostalgia and romanticism.
Re-invent and hence Re-discover
