About Ibrahim A. Abougendy : Ibrahim has been always passionate about finding his tool to make the world a better place to live on. Got passionate about disrupting ideas and how powerful are them. He initiated a cultural movement at his beloved home city"Port Said" by organizing the first TED like event in such a small city. Put the seed of the first cultural hub in the city. That's when he fell in love with his tires.

Ibrahim and his partners were short in budget to initiate the cultural space, so they had no choice but using garbage. Ibrahim asked everybody to bring in some throwaways. He re-designed them, and I started loving them when people's sparkling eyes gave all that love and nostalgia about their throwaways.

At this moment, he was sure that he has to focus more to create a solid concept of an interior element that people would love to use/buy/keep at their own homes.

He lived between scraps for three months to come up with the first collection for my Upcycling design startup "Mobikya"

We launched our studio one year ago, started gaining regional grounds. We would love to send our favorite piece "SOSTA TIRE "more fame because it worth it.

We worth living in a better earth. we, humans, are clever enough to manage our own wastes.

This is the story beside "Mobikya" - Mobilya, stands for furniture in Arabic and "bikya" unneeded items (Scraps).
STATEMENT OF ART:
I always look with wide eyes onto the "bridge between the user and the designer". it is like when you watch a good movie, sometimes you cry out of your miraculous engagement with that scene.

I believe in that effect, that's why I abandoned my Architecture degree, got the best out of it and went straight away to mixing and matching and testing throwaways. Why ? Because of the sparkle in the users eye when s/he sees an item that h/she threw in garbage.

We won't step throwing tires away or have tire mass fires unless we unleash the hidden potential behind them, Here comes design.

PRIVATE EXHIBITIONS:
I am a first timer when coming to Exhibiting my designs. This collection came after living for 3 months in a garbage collection area in my home city , PortSaid.

The idea of introducing those tires into something functional and aesthetic is fresh and new. The design concept is a mix between what I learnt back at Architecture and how much I would love to ignite a paradigm shift to how people perceive tires.

I am not claiming Art, I am just carrying a message that tires would love to say.
