Designer InterviewInterview with Stanislav Shvechkov at Monday 29th of September 2014 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? SS: I'm in design since 1999. During last 15 years I have got a degree in marketing, advertising, design, strategic management. I liked to design ever. Now I can combine the design of all the knowledge in the related fields. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? SS: I created brands from my own brand - Shvechkov, which provides effective branding solution named ES (experienced solutions). FS: What is "design" for you? SS: Design is all around us, so the design is a part of me. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? SS: Package design, corporate design, package form design and industrial design. Of cource I love advertising design. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? SS: I like non-static design, which can exist in different forms unaltered essence of the brand. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? SS: It was corporate design for Korean fishing company. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? SS: I like the wood and steel. FS: When do you feel the most creative? SS: When I listen to positive music. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? SS: The main thing in design to transfer an image of the brand and its positioning with competitive advantages. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? SS: Harmony. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? SS: It's almost like having a new baby ) FS: What makes a design successful? SS: Сompetent brand platform and its understanding of the designer. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? SS: The main thing to convey to the consumer brand essence. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? SS: Role of the designer is very high because it forms the cultural values. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? SS: With increasing competition, when all products are identical in technology, the design becomes a key factor in personality. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? SS: It is a first time then I take part in competitions ) FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? SS: My sources of inspiration - it's a good feeling, beautiful views of nature and a positive mood. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? SS: Style design depends on the objectives. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? SS: I'm living in Russia but I travel a lot. Different cultures are helping to expand the vision of design. FS: How do you work with companies? SS: I always try to understand the philosophy of the project. It is very important for efficient work. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? SS: I think that first of all you need to pay attention to the experience of the designer in related fields, the understanding of what is the branding, marketing, analytics. This is my opinion. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? SS: As I wrote above - all projects start with a clean white sheet and a pencil. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? SS: Blue sky, bright sun, green leaves of the trees, colorful meadows and bright colors of the sea. FS: Can you describe a day in your life? SS: Every day varied. FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? SS: Always defended your point of view, because you are a professional. FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? SS: Positive aspects is opportunity to live different lives with each of your project. Negative I do not notice ) FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? SS: Always in-time ) FS: What skills are most important for a designer? SS: Reach imagination and time management. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? SS: I prefer Corel Draw and positive music. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? SS: I'm planning my time. Just it. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? SS: Depend of project: 1 week - several months. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? SS: All questions are different. FS: What was your most important job experience? SS: In the one of oldest branding agency. FS: Who are some of your clients? SS: Around the world ) FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? SS: I prefer complexbranding projects from start to finish. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? SS: To work around the World ) FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? SS: Depent of project. May be work myself and may be manage the project team. FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about? SS: I prefer to tell when the work is done ) FS: How can people contact you?
