Designer InterviewInterview with Eliana Reggiori and Adnan Al Maleh at Sunday 15th of March 2015 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? ERAAAM: Yes since I was a child FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? ERAAAM: A project manager (Eliana Reggiori) and an architect (Adnan Al Maleh), grown up in two different country, Italy and Syria, which met and realized that have the same way to see and think. A whirlwind of ideas make them to work together. The PoLoo is one of the result of the merging culture. Different is the word that can describe them. Different background, age and experience, but their friendship make them merge all this differences in a unique bland. The projects are unconventional and cross culture. FS: What is "design" for you? ERAAAM: Design for us is the process of forming our life experience , thoughts, and habits into a product. We communicate by the design output with our prospective users whom do they share with us the same experience, habit, and need. Our objective is to offer a product that can ingage people into their own world more healthy, stylish, and comfortable. Our design experience proof that innovative design is not exclusive on “designer” titled people, it is crossing everyone who can find an answer. The rest of the process is just a matter of merging engineering, styling and technology into a successful product. However, Art is the personal interpritation of everything we can sense around us. The attractive design is the smart application of nature artistic tricks and principles. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? ERAAAM: Buildings, car and Interior Design FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? ERAAAM: a Villa in Damascus FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? ERAAAM: Magnesium FS: When do you feel the most creative? ERAAAM: at night FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? ERAAAM: proportions FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? ERAAAM: isolated from world and I'm navigated in my own world FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? ERAAAM: Happy but I think how to do better the next one FS: What makes a design successful? ERAAAM: people FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? ERAAAM: functionality then styling FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? ERAAAM: keeping in consideration how smart and simple can be the design FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? ERAAAM: Involving users in the design process FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? ERAAAM: Politecnico of Milano FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? ERAAAM: Travelling and my thought and ispiration come from my emotions FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? ERAAAM: Simple complexity FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? ERAAAM: I live in Torino and I'm syrian, but I dont think my heritage effects me. I'm very stress for the war in my Country and in this period my emotions come from this difficult moment. FS: How do you work with companies? ERAAAM: I work very well and enjoy to work in Team FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? ERAAAM: the good designer is a wide broad base of knowledge of different domains gather with talent and able to FS: How can people contact you?
