Interview with Masahiko Sato at Saturday 17th of March 2018 ![]() FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator? MS: I have work in this line of work for more than 30 years and designed many kind of projects including residential, commercial and hospitality in japan. FS: How did you become a designer? MS: I did not went to architecture school so i mostly learned everything by myself. working in a firm pass an examination and established my own company. FS: What are your priorities, technique and style when designing? MS: Careful listening to what client wants and find a best solution to fit the needs. FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing? MS: It is always exciting to design eachtime because each project is unique FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer? MS: Harsh education from workplace, family support, and strong motivation FS: What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project? MS: To be able to design not in japan but many place in the world and spread inspiration. FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career? MS: Be bold and creative. FS: You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects? MS: Keep pushing the boundaries of design by making something pleasing and extraordinary. FS: What is your day to day look like? MS: Morning briefing, designing and managing the office, meeting the clients, go to the site, making each time worth living. FS: How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter? MS: I always check latest design trend via architectural websites fom all over the world. FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design? MS: Where function and aesthetic meet both ends FS: How do you decide if your design is ready? MS: We always have a deadline and make every design to be done on time. FS: What is your biggest design work? MS: I dont know what would be the biggest but I house is my favorite FS: Who is your favourite designer? MS: Ando Tadao FS: Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture? MS: I believe design can change society, the way how people live and appreciate aesthetic aspect of design is something interesting about design to me. FS: Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy? MS: In japan hardworking is part of culture, we do what we must. FS: What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect? MS: Inspire people with good design FS: What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award? MS: Meeting alot of people and broaden my vision.
