Interview with Duo Li at Wednesday 1st of May 2024
Duo Li
FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
DL: Objective Thing Design Lab is a company focused on product design, composed of two experienced designers, to help customers and enterprises complete the design and development of products. The product categories mainly include consumer electronics, smart hardware, medical devices and smart wearable products.

FS: What is "design" for you?
DL: Identify the problem and then solve it in a beautiful way. Design is the perfect combination of technology and aesthetics.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
DL: Consumer electronics, smart hardware, wearable products, security products

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
DL: I love iconic designs, such as Dieter RAMS 'products for Braun, Tom Dixon's lamps, and Philips Stark's crazy ideas, which always get me hooked and excited. I also hope that my works can bring a new experience to the market and users.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
DL: Listen to your customers and keep asking questions

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
DL: Plastic, metal, wood and cloth. All materials with natural texture, materials are alive and expressive, and good use will get their feedback

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
DL: Innovation, practicality, aesthetics, uniqueness

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
DL: When my design becomes a real product, I will have unconcealed joy. It's very rewarding, and I hope my users love it as much as I do.

FS: What makes a design successful?
DL: I think design success is a very difficult thing. It requires a unique design concept, an otherworldly presentation, and positive feedback from users.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
DL: In life, in conversation, in introspection, in books. There are many ways to get inspiration, but it's all about the heart

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
DL: 1. Innovation 2. Uniqueness 3. Mass manufacturing 4. Low cost 5. Simple aesthetics 6. Ease of Use The above is in no particular order

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
DL: First of all, I think the basic professional skills of designers are essential. Need to have a very good aesthetic background, long-term dedication to the design work. Secondly, good communication skills and learning to listen to the ideas of users or customers. This is very important, many times the user's expression and the actual idea is very different, which needs to be your heart to feel. Finally, we must learn to create a source of inspiration, so that we can get the power of design from life.

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
DL: Mainly look at the category of products. As short as a few months, as long as 1-2 years.

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
DL: I have a wide range of interests and have designed many types of products in my previous experience. I enjoy challenging projects most and find joy in designing and solving problems.

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
DL: teamwork

FS: How can people contact you?
DL: 1.My behance home page is https://www.behance.net/flysky 2.My E-mali is liduo@aliyun.com
