Interview with Xingzhuo Chen at Monday 17th of April 2023 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? XC: I have been fond of art since childhood. When I grew up, seeing the excellent works of many excellent designers confirmed my dream of becoming a designer in the future. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? XC: Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts is located in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. It is the only institution of higher fine arts with multi-disciplines and multi-educational levels in Northeast China. It is also one of the eight fine arts Academies in China and a key university in the construction of a first-class university in Liaoning Province. The university has been named the National Cultural Quality Education Base for college students by the Ministry of Education, the Red Classic Art Education Demonstration Base for colleges and universities, and the Chinese Literature and Art public opinion information research Base by the China Federation of Literature and Arts. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? XC: I like simple but not simple design works. Good product design is able to speak, through the product design can elaborate product function. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? XC: I pay more attention to the feelings that design brings to people, such as the interaction between people and products. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? XC: The feeling that design brings to people. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? XC: Compare heart to heart, let yourself become a user. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? XC: Cutting-edge design ideas and innovation.
