FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
RS: I am graduated architect. I have finished Warsaw Engineering School, Remodeling surrounding space was always my passion and still is.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
RS: I’m designing personally. My company was founded 25 years ago.

FS: What is "design" for you?
RS: Esthetic way of looking at surrounding space. Inner needs of making visual order.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
RS: Residential in historical substance.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
RS: It’s still in front of me

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
RS: My first small 27 square meter home

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
RS: I like wood and natural stone.

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
RS: After holidays

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
RS: Humans. Contest. Function. Proportions. Colors and materials

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
RS: Curiosity.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
RS: Proud.

FS: What makes a design successful?
RS: It has to be good and well promoted.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
RS: Cohesion.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
RS: It is very important question, but we are not on first front line. Industry and politics are!

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
RS: AI

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
RS: Majority of my work was visited only by users. But I have also many opportunities to present my designs. Last were in Wroclaw and Como.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
RS: Nature and history. Travelling.

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
RS: For the last 20 years, I have been designing interiors of residences, apartments and public utility buildings in Poland, and for the last 5 years, also in United States and Great Britain. As a result of my work, many older buildings had been thoroughly renovated and regained their past greatness.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
RS: I was born in Warsaw. I remember the city from 80s. There were still a lot ruined buildings from WW2. 80-90 % of old substance was destroyed. I think it has an impact for specific character of polish design. It was combined with typical for communism unification.

FS: How do you work with companies?
RS: They ask me to make design for them. As experienced architect I am doing my best.

FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
RS: For good cooperation you need respect and good communication.

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
RS: Everything starts in my head. I am thinking abut people and context. Sometimes it takes days, After that I start sketching.

FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
RS: 1. Pictures and sculptures 2. Some old furniture 3. Windows 4. Stone floor 5. Space division

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
RS: They are different. I don’t like sleep to much. Job is my responsibility. Family is first. Sport is also important.

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
RS: Learn more and more. Whole life.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
RS: It is not only a job. It’s the way of life. Sometimes can be hard, but mostly is so interesting!

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
RS: Less elements is better than to much.

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
RS: Spatial imagination and sensitivity.

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
RS: Sketches in the beginning.

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
RS: I am well organized.

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
RS: Designing 100 square meters apartment takes at least 3 months.

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
RS: Where your inspirations come from?

FS: What was your most important job experience?
RS: I am supervising realization of my designs. It makes my design responsible.

FS: Who are some of your clients?
RS: Mostly well educated and responsible people.

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
RS: With clients who are involved and claver.

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
RS: Holiday brake.

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
RS: Myself.

FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
RS: I will present it shortly.
