Interview with Elif Ordulu at Saturday 4th of March 2023 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? EO: it was my childhood.Since my childhood, I used to dream, paint and become a book. And I used to say that I will become a famous designer in the future. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? EO: A workshop where all kinds of designs are made. painting, decorative products, yacht design. I do textile designs. All my own designs. and as an interior designer, I like to use these designs in spaces. FS: What is "design" for you? EO: For me, design is the highest level of human intelligence. When aesthetics and comfort come together, design emerges. just aesthetics is not enough or just comfort. design is the thing that merges between the hand and the paper of the dreams flowing from your brain. no artificial intelligence can ever do that FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? EO: I like the pattern design the most. to make designs on any fabric as I want. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? EO: my favorite are the designs of alberto salvagnin. It has elegant and pointy shots. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? EO: My design for this competition. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? EO: 3d FS: When do you feel the most creative? EO: I feel very creative while walking in nature and doing sports. Nature always inspires me. It is very good to look at the sky and think. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? EO: to the general design language. For example, what does this place want to tell me? then my furniture and color choices. and the latest details. bricks and stylish objects.I focus on details FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? EO: I feel alive. I reveal myself. I do something useful. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? EO: it makes me happy that people like them as a result FS: What makes a design successful? EO: to think and feel. Being able to empathize is always successful. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? EO: good design is already good as it should be. but the bad is immediately noticeable. and I catch the bad right away. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? EO: not to lose their aesthetics for our people and our generations. We must lead them. Aesthetics is very important. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? EO: its speed is changing with digital media. It's nice to have everything at hand. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? EO: not yet FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? EO: Of course, European history really impressed me. art history and works from that period are inspiration for design.If we design today by watching European and art history books and documentaries, knowing our past, we will be very successful in the future. and that becomes an inspiration. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? EO: my style is modern and all about color games. color and textural approach FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? EO: I live in Turkey. I was born in Antalya. Antalya has a history with Italy and France. and Rome and Byzantium. There are also ancient times. amazing historical place. and there are many historical events. for example, works such as Heracles, the Three Beauties. underground cities. and my life in the Mediterranean inspires my yacht designs. FS: How do you work with companies? EO: I am working as a freelancer designer. I'm just sailing. but I design myself for the wallpaper, up to every object of the interior.companies contact me and send customer requests. I'm in the design phase. and we conclude with mutual understanding. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
