FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
JX: Because I saw a lot of interesting things in life, I decided to become a designer.Design is very interesting to me.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
JX: Shenzhen Baixinglong Creative Packaging Co., Ltd. was established on February 1, 2008. It is an overall creative packaging solution provider, mainly engaged in the design, research and development, and production of creative packaging products in several major fields such as alcohol, tea, and food. and sales.

FS: What is "design" for you?
JX: Design comes naturally.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
JX: I like practical and natural designs.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
JX: I remember it was a chili sauce,made to look like chili peppers,with different colors to distinguish the spiciness.It's really clever and understandable for everyone,crossing language and cultural barriers.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
JX: A series of product designs for a liquor group company, telling the story of time.

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
JX: I love china,china are really wonderful,just like my motherland.

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
JX: when i'm full of energy.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
JX: consumer experience

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
JX: I usually feel happy and heavy because I want to give my clients the best ideas.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
JX: I feel happy and then relaxed.

FS: What makes a design successful?
JX: useful

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
JX: useful,aesthetics.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
JX: Try to use relatively environmentally friendly and low-carbon emission materials in the design.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
JX: I think the field of design is gradually maturing, and the future of design is more about settled, actual feelings.

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
JX: It was in April 2022,inside the company.It will probably be a long time before I can attend an exhibition again.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
JX: The design of my work is inspired by life. Living well and conscientiously nourishes my creativity. My inspiration comes from every little thing in life.

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
JX: My design style is Minimalism.It was the influence of the phrase "less is more" that prompted me to further explore this style.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
JX: I live in Shenzhen,China.I think the culture of the country and region will affect my design. Living in my country, I prefer philosophical balanced thinking to sharp things when designing.

FS: How do you work with companies?
JX: Work in the company.

FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
JX: I hope there can be a more humane way of cooperation. If a company wants to choose excellent designers, it needs to provide good soil.

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
JX: First, contact the demand, understand the product development engine, then conduct research, review information, and then start designing.

FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
JX: Incense sticks, electric kettles, hand-painted ceramic bowls, smart door locks, computer stands.

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
JX: I would go for a walk in the morning and have breakfast, then go to the vegetable market, bask in the sun, stew a pot of meat at noon, play games after lunch, and read for a while after dinner.

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
JX: Health and life are the most important in life.Don’t design for design’s sake.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
JX: Usually designers are easily curious about everything. The disadvantage is that they are curious about everything because their energy is limited.

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
JX: Think more

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
JX: ability to observe

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
JX: I can use many tools, such as Procreate, drawing book, and blender. Inspiration comes from all things in life.

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
JX: I have a schedule, and time usually follows the schedule.

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
JX: one month

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
JX: Why is it designed this way?

FS: What was your most important job experience?
JX: While working at Bai Xinglong.

FS: Who are some of your clients?
JX: The clients I have served include CP Group, Guotai, Moutai, Luzhou Laojiao, Xifeng, Dukang, etc.

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
JX: I like challenging design work. Is there anyone who doesn’t like the thrill of solving a difficult problem?

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
JX: My future plans are to continue on the design path. The next step is more interpretation and expression of my own style.

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
JX: I develop and design myself.

FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
JX: Recently I am making a cultural and creative gift box, hoping to find a balance between traditional and modern aesthetics.
