Interview with Alessandra Bisi at Sunday 10th of January 2021 ![]() FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? AB: I have always wanted to express my inner world and my vision. This is why I have studied the languages of painting for many years. I have not stopped doing it because in the meantime I create. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? AB: My work are very often the concrete development of concepts that to express with visual impact and effectiveness that is as readable as possible to everyone. I produce for Life Positive Design because the design aimed at a positive life and the study of nature to achieve this goal are in tune with my art. FS: What is "design" for you? AB: The perfect design is the aestetic synthesis between form and content like pure art. Different characteristic from pure art is for the design the functional motivation and the aspect of the production. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? AB: I like to create images that can be admired for their beauty and that provoke questions or attention to issues of social and universal interest. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? AB: Andy Warhol: Artist of world importance, in my opinion he is also the greatest design. He has created works and objects of value even as they are not unique but riproducible. He communicated by identifyng symbols and making graphics part of the art. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? AB: I designed images to produce clothing and accessories. My collection dedicated to animals at risk of extinction. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? AB: my main language is painting. With photoshop I intervene or create completely. FS: When do you feel the most creative? AB: Creativity is my natural instinct whenever I have to solve a problem or I'm curious. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? AB: Concept, communication, beauty. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? AB: When I design something I belive in it so I am thrilled. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? AB: I am very satisfied because for me it means that I have reached my goal and have been understood in my every intention. FS: What makes a design successful? AB: A successful project must give the pubblic something positive and unpredictable suitable to give an aesthetic vision of impact and communication. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? AB: A project must translate the intention of the client and best solve production needs. The creative methods and processes must be original. The visual impact must be beautiful. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? AB: A design creates new solutions to always be the promoter of emotional, cultural and social well-being. It must be responsable and respect the enviroment. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? AB: Design should evolve in the production of spaces and art that make men's lives more serene. Creating synthesis and harmony with nature and being only sustainable. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? AB: My last exhibition was virtual. Before this in 2020 in Milan. I woukd like to do the next exhibition in October 2021 FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? AB: Every like experience makes me reflect and inspires me on how to share emotions. I observe nature because it reveals forms and functions to me. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? AB: My style is my sign. I create my works by inventing consistent but new processes each time. I have no limits in technical choices. My approach to design is composition. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? AB: I live in Italy and was born immersed in beauty. The traditional artistic training I have had here is a wealth. Unfortunately the problems of the country and economic difficulties do not make it easy for the artists to create. FS: How do you work with companies? AB: I work with companies like a 16th century artist. I consider them my client. I work in complete freedom in my field in compliance with the objectives but autonomous in every way. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? AB: Companies often demand specific and detailed skills from designers in many industries. Good design has skills that are not learmed in courses but are built in a lot of creative work. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? AB: Observation, analysis, synthesis. Expressive choice. effectiveness FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? AB: Table, toaster,pot, cup,lamp FS: Can you describe a day in your life? AB: Mday is always too short. I go out in the morning and then I stay at home. I work on my projects or do nothing at all. If I'm traveling I explore. FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? AB: Have the courage to do things that have not already been approved and devote a lot to being masters of expressive languages. FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? AB: Be satisfied and have the privilege of creating for society. Overworking is inevitable and possibily negative. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? AB: Everything is possible and also adaptable to a function. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? AB: Being aware of the past and knowing how to create a bridge with the present FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? AB: Color pigments, brushes, pens. Adobe programs, photos, personal memories, nature. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? AB: The time for planning is indefinable. I have no rules FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? AB: It depends on the object but also on the customers' s need that a design must know how to respect. In theory, true time is indefinable. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? AB: How many software I can use. FS: What was your most important job experience? AB: The numerous exhibition and the direction of my gallery. Making art for Life Positive Design FS: Who are some of your clients? AB: Art collectors, architects, dealers FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? AB: I like to create images of nature and messages of joy FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? AB: I would like to continue creating art for Life Positive Design in both coffee shops and other establishments. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? AB: I work alone on my works. In Life Positive Design the creations of the concept and the intellectual value of the messages are a close collaboration withis the founder of the company. Each creation is in line with a sustainable vision. FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
