Interview with Peng Xiaohua, Chen Qi, Deng Juan at Monday 27th of June 2022 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? PXCQDJ: Art painting in high school, graduated from the Department of environmental design of Changsha University of technology in 2005; Want to be a designer of art and technology. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? PXCQDJ: Corporate culture; Design products. FS: What is "design" for you? PXCQDJ: Reasonable planning and careful planning It is also a humanistic creation activity. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? PXCQDJ: Folk houses built by Chinese people themselves. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? PXCQDJ: Highly humanistic and theory of objective method Scientific and reasonable layout and plan to jointly create. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? PXCQDJ: Teahouse space. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? PXCQDJ: Natural materials, Products with technology industry Easy to install, easy to build, sustainable and durable process. FS: When do you feel the most creative? PXCQDJ: After reading and walking. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? PXCQDJ: I pay more attention to volume, scale, light, air flow, force and energy, etc. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? PXCQDJ: Jingyi, sensibility and rationality. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? PXCQDJ: Review after pleasure. FS: What makes a design successful? PXCQDJ: Besides people, it's a team. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? PXCQDJ: Rationality. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? PXCQDJ: Protection and advocacy. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? PXCQDJ: 1. First of all, the use of elements and attribute categories, and then the development of society and human demands; 2. Learn from the past and adapt to the present, examine the shortcomings of the present and look back on the wisdom of the past. Knowledge of regional culture and history and architecture; 2. Read more, watch more, listen more and do more; 3. Focus on nature. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? PXCQDJ: 1. PXCQDJ: Advantages: strong analytical capability Disadvantages: insufficient toughness FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? PXCQDJ: The construction of China is integrated with the academic of Western architecture and design. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? PXCQDJ: Thought. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? PXCQDJ: Hand drawn; CAD; History, philosophy, geography, social sciences, design and other books. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? PXCQDJ: Specify the design time node of the specific project. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? PXCQDJ: 3-8 years. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? PXCQDJ: Is that reasonable? Is it so beautiful? FS: What was your most important job experience? PXCQDJ: Talk with the owner about the design project all night. FS: Who are some of your clients? PXCQDJ: Project development unit. FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
