Have you always wanted to be a designer? SL: I like art and design. They are the most beautiful things in my opinion.Someone once asked me what my ideal is.I told them at that time that it is to maintain the true, the good and the beautiful in the world. In my opinion, art and design represent the true, the good and the beautiful, their mission in this world is to make the world a better place, and I've always loved being a designer when it comes to design,it can also be said that from childhood to nature naturally in the mind of such an idea, never to carry out any choice or comparison. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? SL: Mulu culture originated from the pursuit of beautifulthings, recording images,so that the art and beauty of life can be better presented. Is committed to creating a unique creative visual field,to achieve diversified development,is a multi-functional compound Culture Media Co.,Ltd..The company mainly takes brand image packaging, product shooting, stage vision and program visual image packaging as its main production projects and also carries out brand image design, product packaging design, album design,Motion Graphic, art activities,etc.,vision,design,image,music,art,creativity...one session at a time, good and beautiful always. FS: What is "design" for you? SL: I think design is a way to make the world a better place,to make people happier, through your ideas and your practice,a way to work,a way to do a lot of things in life,we can make it better,or we can make, the public objects more pleasing to the eye,and everything that has to do with design should be a good feeling,or something that makes a difference in the world, more progress,to make our lives more convenient. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? SL: I like illustration,I like some color about the space,or color collocation, also like brand design and packaging design, visual field related content I like very much, because they are beautiful. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? SL: I don't have a favorite design yet.Although some of my designs may win prizes in some competitions, there may be a common problem for designers, that is,they will find many, many deficiencies in the works they have produced, almost every piece of work after he finished,I can find many, many bad places, but because I also understand, like these shortcomings or lack of some perfect places,is also a hint to myself, can make themselves clearer in the future,so it is also a necessary work to keep these insufficient works. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? SL: The first design I did for the company was actually about the development of animation peripheral,at that time I was a doll designer,my job is to cartoon cartoon characters in the cartoon design a variety of peripheral, these include dolls, and I make them the way most dolls do when I'm around. The tools are needles and thread, all kinds of fabrics, all kinds of hand-made things.4.This is one of my favorite things.I often go to the fabric market with a big pocket during working hours to find all kinds of beautiful materials.I think many people will enjoy this job. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? SL: I like all kinds of cloth, all kinds of handcraft materials, all kinds of colors, all kinds of brushes, all kinds of paper, all kinds of materials that can be used to create,I like to present them separately,so in my home there would be a warehouse,a warehouse containing all kinds of fabrics, all kinds of materials, all kinds of pens, all kinds of paper, which would be stored as treasures. FS: When do you feel the most creative? SL: I don't think I'm a particularly creative person, but I like to collect ideas, and I think if there's an idea that's going through your head, then one of the things I'm going to do,is to pick up a piece of paper and write it down, because I'm afraid that the next second I'm going to forget, that a lot of ideas don't necessarily come true, but they can really give you a lot of references. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? SL: In the design process,I pay more attention to the details, then all aspects of the level of coordination, the actual role of the product, visual above the various specifications, these are points of concern. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? SL: I am usually very happy when I design, although sometimes I may have some difficulties, for example, when my idea conflicts with the client's idea, obviously there is a problem with the customer's thinking, sometimes need to communicate, but I am not very good at communication,so at this time there will be some trouble. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? SL: When my design is realized,I will be grateful, well,to be able to turn a design into a finished product is the desire of every designer. FS: What makes a design successful? SL: There are many reasons for the success of design, but I think no matter from any aspect, the first thing should be that you like to design this thing,so that you can design with all your heart,so that you can put your ideas, you spend all your time on the design, and you really want it to work, not for some benefit, and of course there are all sorts of things that can be done to make it better, there's also a lot of social research that can be done to help you design better. There's no rush or imitation, even if it's a reference point that can be useful to you, don't imitate it,this is the key to a designer's success. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? SL: In judging a design, the people I think about first usually judge it by its first appearance, and second by the details of how it actually works, whether it makes sense, whether there will be some sort of sustainable, and in the future does not affect him in a practical play of such aspects. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? SL: The designer's responsibility to society and the environment should be to make the world not only better, but also more comfortable and convenient.Only the design of the face value can not adapt to the development of society, but only the design of the public, without the appearance, may make people's mood produce not so pleasant components,so the face value and the function must be unified, this is a designer, when he design a very important consideration, who do not want to be a vase, who do not want to be said that their design, just looks beautiful. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? SL: I think that the development of the design field should be completely integrated from all fields. It can be said that many design fields have been continuously integrated and developed. The future design should be more humane, and draw inferences from the past, you really want to realize a value of their own,not from the one-sided to consider a design, perhaps a graphic designer,he is both a visual expert, also want to be an expert in space architecture,of course experts don't come overnight, but you should at least develop your versatility skills. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? SL: I enjoy visiting other exhibitions, the last one was in Milan in 2019. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? SL: Well,I usually do a lot of work, because our company's main business is oriented to the design field or the visual field in many ways,so there will be a lot of visual-related work to do,we do online education and training courses,we work with many brands,we do design services for the general public, and we sell our products on some websites, inspiration should be everywhere,in life,in nature. As long as you feel with your heart, see with your eyes and hear with your ears, your heart will naturally produce different things and use them well. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? SL: Many people say that my design style is biased towards the healing style,or it has a kind of firework smell, warm power.I myself prefer the healing style, like the design of the Forest Department,so I will keep close to my life when I design, using a lot of real life scenes to present them, the main feature of my style should be that it is more approachable, softer, and relaxing. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? SL: I live in China, and Chinese culture is actually very beautiful, especially when it blends in with other cultures, like one of my favorite styles,Chinoiserie, which has a mix of French and Chinese, there are also artistic elements from Japan and other Asian countries, and if I were to present a design style in my own home,I would be happy to use that style. In our country, there are actually many good designers, but like any other country, many designers may have some confusion about their profession on the way to design, whether you love the job or not,Chinese design has started to make a lot of noise in the world and is more widely known, but the problem is that it is not so representative,in other words, his voice is not particularly loud.I think Chinese culture is actually very beautiful. If we carry on some of them, the modern fusion will be a treasure house of very splendid design,no matter in any country,in any era,the classics and the future are an eternal topic, they are always balanced, they can always take us to a new country. FS: How do you work with companies? SL: When we have some cooperation, usually it may be that a brand party comes to us and comes with us to have some communication in the design field. We will sign a design contract, according to the actual effect location of the design, the other party will carry out the design work, before that,we will have detailed communication and meetings to understand each other's needs. So far we have not done any marketing or promotion, because our own positioning is to belong to a relatively small design company,in fact,he really does not seem so popular,we want to do some love small things, this is the original intention. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? SL: Companies work with designers.Generally speaking,I think we look for designers according to our own needs. In fact, there are many designers. But maybe we should make a distinction when we choose, for example, some basic work,day-to-day work, quantitative work, then maybe the designers we need are some designers who can do these complicated and repetitive things, but if we need to make this work 10 points bold and compelling for people to talk about, then you need to work with good designers, and when you work with good designers, you can speak out your ideas and requirements, but you should also listen carefully and carefully to what the designer is saying. However,if he is already a good designer, his opinions should have some value,we should go to listen,a lot of designers reflect about the company partners, their ideas will often be rejected by the other side,if the designer's idea is reasonable, then why not listen? After all,it's their job to make things better. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? SL: My approach to design is the same as everyone else's,so first of all I'm going to do a variety of collections, and just like the brainstorming we do,you're going to have to list a lot of keywords,a lot of different color blocks, various functions and survey data, and then put them in a series of combinations, put them in different permutations,to get the best presentation, but also do a lot of actual testing, and finally adjust the reasonable data. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? SL: I don't have a favorite design project right now,Um,but on a daily basis,my favorite is always the design of the handicraft, and the creation of the illustration, and the space, the planning, and the other presentation, and, yes,we also design the sound, because usually I also participate in a lot of sound of the program recording,we can go to a lot of characters for voice dubbing,or the role of a voice presentation. FS: Can you describe a day in your life? SL: My Day is usually at the same time as most people get up in the morning.I don't have the habit of going to bed late.I don't get much sleep.I start work in the morning,i usually work late into the night, but I'm glad I'm in good health, even if I don't really sleep much. FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? SL: I think young designers will definitely have more sound ideas, their brains will generate bigger storms, make good use of these, although it may be lack of experience for the actual project, but it does not matter, because, like experience,it can accumulate and deepen continuously,I think the most important thing for a young designer is to know whether he really likes designing or not, love or passive to do this kind of study and work,if you really want to design this way better, then you need to keep your mind clear at all times, what I mean is don't let yourself get lost in an endless ocean, let yourself be able to have your own unique flash point,so that you can copy and imitate these methods, which are not advisable, and may even make your mind completely degenerate, whether you want to be a designer or a draftsman depends entirely on your opinion of the design and your determination? FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? SL: Being a designer is a job I've always enjoyed. It's a great feeling for me to be able to present my ideas.Designers must sacrifice a lot of their free time or spend time with family and friends,or when other people go out to play may also need to work as a designer,so the designer's health should be particularly worthy of attention, other than that there seems to be no negative impact on me. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? SL: I'm going to focus on the basic specifications of the design, and whether it's the same, whether it's eye-opening,whether it's going to feel different, and we're going to see a lot of design, and it's really handled very well, all aspects are very, can be said to meet the requirements of high scores, but I do not like them, because they look like the same, they are the product of the model,or they too imitate certain things, this is not what a designer should do.A designer should innovate, should renovate the history, instead of repeating it.He can make the classics more brilliant and the future come earlier. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? SL: As a designer, you have to pay the most attention to your eyes, your ears and your brain, and that's the second most important thing,is some software or some other skill, and a lot of people put that in the first place,i think this is not desirable,if a designer does not design thinking, then his software operation is superb,he can not use their own thinking to design,he can only repeat the design of others have done it. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? SL: Some of the tools I used during the design process, and the one I used most was actually an A4 sized laptop, this grid book, and I would carry a stationery bag with me,although we would have cell phones now, there will be tablets and other electronic devices that are more convenient to record, but I'm used to writing them down on paper in the first place, although it may take a while, and I have to carry them to my computer, but I think this record is worth the time,in the application of the software is not really special,I use the same software with everyone,in inspiration and books,I really like the design of the book,in particular, some design magazines, usually more quickly than design books, can present some good design,or fashion some popular trends,if you want to know them quickly, you can pay attention to some magazines,if you need to study some of the knowledge that has already taken shape and can have a final conclusion over a long period of time, you can read some design books, but I'm not special,i recommend which one to read, because there are so many of these books, and there's really no way to rank them one by one, because really, maybe I found a good one,but there will be a better one,and we don't have to take it seriously in this regard, once you've seen it,you'll absorb the knowledge, and that's good. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? SL: Whether it is designers or other staff, need to learn time management,my current time management is not particularly good, but I will put every day to do their own thing to an analysis of the degree of importance,it's one of the most primitive and easiest ways to do it.There's a lot of time management software, but I'm used to using pen and paper, maybe I think pen and paper are more approachable, but I'll probably put these things on my computer later on,because one of the benefits of a computer is that it can expand your knowledge of ideas, including time management, with pen and paper, there's always a size limit. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? SL: Generally speaking, the design of the project will be based on the category to determine his time,so I do not have a precise concept of time to tell you, because different design time is definitely different,we all make a prediction about the design to see how much time it will take to communicate with the client. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? SL: The question I ask most often as a designer is,if it's about brand collaboration,I'll try to find out from the brand about their various ideas and requirements that will allow me to implement the design,if it's for me,then I will also ask myself a lot of questions, standing in the consumer's perspective on how to look at this design. FS: What was your most important job experience? SL: My most important work experience is probably my first job, when I was in an animation company, doing animation peripheral character design this job,to do this job when I was still in school, and I got this job because I took part in a national illustration competition and won an award. At that time, many animation companies contacted me.They said that after they saw the message that I had won the prize, interested in inviting me to go to their company after graduation,I chose one of these companies which I prefer,he is a Singapore Animation Company,at that time he had a branch office in our country, and the teacher he interviewed was a very friendly person, and he would ask questions that were different from those of the regular urbanites, and what impressed me most was asking what my ideal was.I told him my ideal was to maintain the truth, goodness and beauty of the world. When I said this,I was surprised myself,i wonder if people will think I'm strange, but the fact that they can understand me makes me think that I should come here.I spent an unforgettable time there,i have gained a lot of valuable experience and wealth,I have been guided by you,and I have made more refinements and improvements in some of my skills.I will always remember this job and the people I met. FS: Who are some of your clients? SL: My clients usually have not only brand partners, but also some social government personnel or some government agencies, and some, the general public, personal design customers or online buyers. FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? SL: My favorite design works,he should look cute, beautiful, but really can give us a better use of the product, because I also like this design style,it's the same feeling that I want to present to others,so I feel a special affinity for this type of product. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? SL: The plans for the future haven't really taken shape yet,but one thing is clear:I'll always be doing what I love, doing what's Nice and enjoyable, and it may not be earth shattering, but to be able to do one loving little thing at a time,I think they are the most meaningful. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? SL: In my design, some of them are collaborations, and some of them are done by themselves.Depending on the project and various other factors,a person's ability is certainly limited, combining what you're good at and what other people are good at can often lead to more efficient, and sparkly, designs. FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about? SL: My latest designs are supposed to be handmade products, and they're all going to look so cute, and they're going to heal people, and in 20201 we're going to start seeing something as bad as the coronavirus, many people's mood may be hit hard even the economic situation, many social problems are beginning to emerge.Although at this time I have nothing special to do,however,to share some lessons on design,as a charity class,I also make a lot of healing dolls to put them on the Internet for a charity sale, can let these commonweal sale income as the ability some to the disaster area contribution. FS: How can people contact you? SL: People can contact me through my work site or our wechat account, and in many design sites,I write down my contact information for clients who need it. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? SL: Not yet.
