Interview with Yi-Rong Li at Monday 4th of May 2020
Yi-Rong Li
FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
YL: We are from different high school departments: arts, advertising design, and general high school. We came to Yunke University's Department of Visual Communication. We have more than 4 years of experience in design, all because we love art and design As a member, our three ambitions and areas of expertise are also different. We will not necessarily become designers in the future, but there are many complementary areas in this cooperation.

FS: What is "design" for you?
YL: Design is the act of serving the society and beautifying the environment!

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
YL: When you think of amazing or unprecedented ideas.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
YL: I am most concerned about the quality and vitality of the design, hoping to provide works with good quality and pleasing to the eye, while being warm and bringing energy to users!

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
YL: I will be excited! Because in the design process, we will work hard to make the works match the look of ourselves and our customers. We hope that we will design and like the works carefully, so that customers can like it!

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
YL: A great sense of accomplishment! Because I feel that I have completed another big event! Seeing that his work is liked by people, I am very satisfied!

FS: What makes a design successful?
YL: The picture that can be understood at a glance and the concept of perseverance, power, and current affairs!

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
YL: I first consider the concept!

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
YL: Integrate the data or unit elements, and then beautify and organize to make the society and the environment clean and have a sense of beauty and vitality.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
YL: Continue to create new values, receive new things, new technologies and organize them, and then display them neatly and beautifully.

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
YL: The last exhibition was exhibited at the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Douliu, Yunlin, Taiwan. The next exhibition will be on-campus exhibition on May 5, 2020!

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
YL: Our style is nostalgic. Through the investigation of the elderly in Taiwan and the local atmosphere of Taiwan, we explore the ancient style of Taiwan and combine it with our cute hand-painted style to make the whole retro but vivid.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
YL: The positive effect of becoming a designer is to make better designs, and will use this as a motivation to continuously improve myself, but relatively little time is available to spend time with family and business feelings.

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
YL: Imagination, willpower, timing ability, self-motivated

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
YL: Develop an itinerary, plan the progress of the day every day, and leave a little time for yourself to be less tired.

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
YL: What do you think of this concept?

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
YL: Works that touch people's hearts are all I will appreciate.

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
YL: Our theme this time is teamwork.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
YL: No.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
