Interview with H. Güliz Tavukçuoğlu at Friday 21st of February 2020

FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
HGT: At Mimar Sinan University, which is the best university of our country in the field of art and design, I won the interior design department as the 7th in the talent exam and graduated in four years. I finished Construction Technical High School in High School, so I consciously turned from high school to interior architecture with a certain infrastructure.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
HGT: With a scientific and artistic background, GNT Interior Architecture have been designing spaces with a personality in which esthetic and functional aspects of the structure are blended together in minute details. GNT Interior Architecture Limited Co. was established by H. Güliz Tavukçuoğlu in Etiler quarter of Istanbul in 2007. After graduating from university in 1994, Ms. Tavukçuoğlu worked in a couple of firms as a designer in charge of turnkey projects and then engaged in individual works after 2002. She is continuing her works on local and international projects. Ms. Tavukçuoğlu has supported her concept designs which she regard as being very important for restaurant, office and retail businesses with her thesis study, titled “Impacts of Corporate Identity on the Design of Space”, which addresses the infrastructure by which new concepts can be conveyed to target mass with the most appropriate as a whole with the philosophy, value and belief system of the client corporation. With this understanding and scientific background, she has been continuously developing her skills and focusing on progressive design solutions in contemporary language. She is offering her experience in designing of spaces of any size with such image values that will reflect the soul of the spaces through interaction between form and material based upon a technical, interior designing and architectural background. GNT Interior Architecture carry out all projects with the same care and diligence regardless of the size of the project at hand. They have completed over 200 small and large scale design projects for a number of business segments, including interior designing of Maxi Shopping Mall as well as the stores and food court with restaurants, cafes and recreation areas inside the mall. After having recently completed designing of the food court floor and the restaurants in a Shopping Mall belonging to the Office of the President of Uzbekistan, they are now working on the development of the concept design, the preliminary designs and the implementation designs for McDonald’s restaurants. This assignment consists of both designing and consultancy services. The assignments personally undertaken and carried out by Ms. Tavukçuoğlu besides her assignments as an office employee until 2002, included interior designing, decoration, architectural designing and façade designing of villas, service and entertainment facilities, healthcare facilities, etc. Her design of birthday party room with themes of space-sea-forest for a McDonald’s restaurant in Adana city has been included in the standard designs of McDonald’s for application in other McDonald’s restaurants. After she has begun to work in her own office, she has specialized on concept designs for corporations and restaurants. Güliz Tavukçuoğlu, the founder of GNT Interior Architecture Limited Co., has been carrying out designing, implementation and controlling works for restaurants, fast-food restaurants, cafes, offices, retail stores as well as healthcare facilities, villas, shopping malls, fair stands, and corporate headquarters since 1994. The works carried out by Ms. Tavukçuoğlu so far included designing of factory façades and accommodation spaces of marine chemical tankers. Our objective is to deliver so-called “boutique quality” works, not to be ordinary, to finish the assignments in time, and to give life to spaces designed well and accurately where human beings are at the center. The path to good designed spaces and successful project organizations depends on completion of an assignment by delivering the quality, cost and time requirements of the client. We keep working to deliver such designs which manifest our difference by observing these principles.
