FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
CM: Engaged in the interior design industry for more than 25 years, currently teaching interior design related courses at university / Childhood interest development / yes

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
CM: Currently the company is a small studio / yes

FS: What is "design" for you?
CM: People-oriented design makes people full of happiness

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
CM: Luxury homes and private villas

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
CM: Fansworth House In 1951, Mies van der Rohe completed the epic work of his modernist ideal, Fansworth House, in the United States, and used "Less is More" to the fullest.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
CM: Communication and coordination

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
CM: Solid wood / can be used indoors and outdoors / requires a professional carpenter to use machine operation

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
CM: late at night

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
CM: Practicability and practice of aesthetic concepts

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
CM: Epinephrine speeds up

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
CM: Let go of the burden

FS: What makes a design successful?
CM: Need a professional team to execute

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
CM: Meet the requirements of the owner and constantly check and correct

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
CM: Take the society, use it for society

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
CM: Cross-disciplinary and multicultural development / design to improve people's quality of life

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
CM: Many years ago in Hsinchu City, Taiwan / Local Exhibition Center / Not yet

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
CM: Learning from nature / more observation and experience / in daily life

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
CM: Modern minimalist / rational 'simple' restrained / bright environment color matching 'space penetration' simple geometric shapes and lines' multifunctional concealed storage 'composite furniture' simple and neat accessories

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
CM: Taiwan / Yes / Ca n’t see the changes and development of the world

FS: How do you work with companies?
CM: Practitioners themselves

FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
CM: Respect each other and think empathy / view their past learning experience

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
CM: Learn to bring nature into the internal space and transform its advantages

FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
CM: include private villas, apartments, restaurants, hotels, office headquarters.

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
CM: The first thing to get up is to drink a cup of tea in advance and then look at the cat at home, then go out to buy breakfast and then go to the studio, and finally busy busy contacting to arrange work, contacting the owner and reporting the progress.

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
CM: Have more time to participate in forums and travel arrangements / participate in international design competitions to learn more

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
CM: On the positive side, it has a better social image, while on the negative side, it is generally believed that the charges will be more expensive

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
CM: Provide a comfortable and practical life for the owners, improve the better service quality

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
CM: Basics of design theory 'Interior designer's core competitiveness' Talking about communication skills 'Materials and market insights' Process and site technical capabilities

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
CM: Use more fragmented time

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
CM: Mansion design project, takes about 1 year

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
CM: Make the best design with the least budget

FS: What was your most important job experience?
CM: Has been a university teacher for 8 years

FS: Who are some of your clients?
CM: General public

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
CM: A series of lectures by world-class architects, you can learn from their experience

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
CM: Participate more in international design competitions / prepare entries

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
CM: Currently developing and designing by myself

FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
CM: Currently still in planning, it is about designing course cooperation
