Interview with Songhuan Wu at Wednesday 29th of April 2020 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? SW: This project has a clear theme: mercury. I have been interested in mercury since my youth, and I have been insisting on becoming an excellent designer. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? SW: NHDdesign was founded by six alumni of the university and has been dedicated to the design and research of interior architecture. FS: What is "design" for you? SW: Can make the work more meaningful, the design can make their life better. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? SW: Works that move people. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? SW: Bauhaus architecture. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? SW: Fair concrete. FS: When do you feel the most creative? SW: evening. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? SW: The interactivity between space and people. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? SW: Thinking will be blank, need to go out for a walk! FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? SW: happy. FS: What makes a design successful? SW: Inspiration and emotion. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? SW: Reasonable basic functions. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? SW: Creation and coordination. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? SW: With diversified development, cross-border has become the norm. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? SW: In 2018, Shanghai. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? SW: The reading and interpretation of life and a large number of excellent works FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? SW: I prefer a minimalist style, but I don't want to limit myself to any kind of feature notation. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? SW: China, Chinese traditional culture does have an influence on Chinese designers. FS: How do you work with companies? SW: Internet communication and cooperation. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? SW: Good faith is the foundation of cooperation. FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? SW: Learn more, travel more! FS: What skills are most important for a designer? SW: Hand-painted technology. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? SW: 3Dmax SketchUp Photoshop AutoCAD FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? SW: It depends on the project three days one month. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? SW: Party a's attitude. FS: Who are some of your clients? SW: I'm lucky that the clients I'm working with are all supportive. FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? SW: The minimalist style.
