Interview with Sunkiss Design Team at Monday 25th of May 2020 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? SDT: Collect feelings and design life. Design and collection are two important hobbies, which are fully reflected and integrated in this design. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? SDT: Shangqi company takes the promotion of brand value as the core goal of design, and the penetration of cultural value as the main means and methods to enhance brand value. FS: What is "design" for you? SDT: Design is the external expression of brand core value and differentiation, and it is a visual symbol with rich connotation. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? SDT: Consumer products closely related to people's lives. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? SDT: For example, the packaging and posters of Huarun snowflake's pure raw snowflake, snowflake Facebook and other series of products integrate "Chinese style" into product design. FS: When do you feel the most creative? SDT: It's about five or six in the morning. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? SDT: The interaction and resonance between works and emotions. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? SDT: I will have a cup of tea to calm myself down. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? SDT: Excited, at the same time, the pursuit of excellence. FS: What makes a design successful? SDT: A successful grasp of the consumer mind. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? SDT: Whether the core value of the brand is accurately conveyed. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? SDT: The pursuit of harmony between man and nature, the environment. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? SDT: Design makes design better, and design no longer improves human living environment all the time. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? SDT: October 2019,The exhibition of gold and stone inscriptions collected by Mr. Zhou Hong,Beijing Rong Bao Zhai Painting Academy,Bejing/China. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? SDT: Continuous learning, not only design skills, including the improvement of historical and cultural literacy and philosophy system. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? SDT: Chinese style design. Based on the study of Chinese culture for five thousand years, we explore our own design style and apply Chinese cultural elements to design. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? SDT: Beijing China. The influence of Chinese culture is deep-rooted, and to a great extent, it affects our design. FS: How do you work with companies? SDT: Choose potential products with growing power and carry out project cooperation. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? SDT: Companies should choose designers with relatively consistent values and design concepts for cooperation. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? SDT: In the design, technology only accounts for a small part, and the strategic thinking and inspiration exploration in the early stage occupy most of the time. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? SDT: Photo wall, bamboo potted plant, family boxing bag, children's hammock, intelligent robot. FS: Can you describe a day in your life? SDT: Appreciate the beauty of life and explore the way of innovation. FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? SDT: Through the surface, strive to find the most essential and original. FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? SDT: More insight, more understanding of the beauty of life. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? SDT: Everything is judged from the perspective of consumers. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? SDT: Correct values, strategic thinking and sophisticated aesthetics. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? SDT: Besides the necessary tools, reading is an important source of inspiration. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? SDT: Reasonable time management and division of work, use time on the cutting edge. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? SDT: According to the size of the project, the general project needs 2-3 months. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? SDT: Whether the design has improved people's life style. FS: What was your most important job experience? SDT: The most basic level of customer communication and work experience, understand the real needs of customers. FS: Who are some of your clients? SDT: Large and medium-sized consumer enterprises. FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? SDT: Works with great conflict and collision. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? SDT: Take design as the carrier to further promote Chinese culture. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? SDT: Team work. FS: How can people contact you? SDT: Wechat, email, Internet. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? SDT: Nothing.
