Interview with Colin Strydom at Tuesday 14th of May 2019 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? CS: Born and raised with art and lego. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? CS: small design studio in a rural part of Australia FS: What is "design" for you? CS: Creating 'experience' for all users FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? CS: unique public structures / spaces FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? CS: Lego. Timeless, functional, Modular and can create amazing beautiful structures FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? CS: A small extension to a house FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? CS: Natural elements, zink, perforated metal, translucent sheeting, timber FS: When do you feel the most creative? CS: the day before a create deadline FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? CS: layout and functionality FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? CS: obscure camera, 1960's recline chair, handmade table FS: Can you describe a day in your life? CS: sleep, work, family FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? CS: create experience. listen to the site. observe others FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
