FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
BA: We have a special feeling with circular economy design. The scope is creating an italian design based on light innovative recyclable and recycled material, the whole R& D team works in an ecological direction maintaining a contemporain timeless italian code.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
BA: Ameryachts is focused on ecodesign, we make a team working in creating superyacht models containing innovative materials and new building process with a high stardard of pleasure yachting design.

FS: What is "design" for you?
BA: beauty, ethic and functionality

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
BA: naval design details

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
BA: Increasing crystal surfaces balancing the major weight in a superyacht to create a special effect to be surrounded by the sea in the lower and main deck.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
BA: we are a building team and we have always work on superyacht models, interiors and exteriors and components

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
BA: Filava, a new fiber totally recyclable which could replace in future the traditional fiberglass. The raw material looks like a fabric.

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
BA: after sailing, travelling and exploring different cultures you gain good vibes and influences to import in your design.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
BA: Simmetria for interiors and the importance to immagine the exterior profile at the sea. Technical solutions become part of the boat design and innovative materials never used before change the value of your brave action.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
BA: an emotional wave

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
BA: proud of the result and ready to share the success involving all the team and their families to be part of story.

FS: What makes a design successful?
BA: simplicity and elegance. a wish to own or use it once in your life.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
BA: Is it better than a previous version, which material has been chosen , is designed with an eco friendly attitude ?

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
BA: Ameryachts vision is changing all the building process in a green revolution. Quality, design and eco-sustainability have to be the new focus for designers. No waste philosophy is the future. Renew and reuse.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
BA: Design will generate a better world, climate change consequences oblige us to adapt all design production in a sort of human mission to help the future generations to save the planet, design will become a new job for native smart students and for the enlarged always connected community.

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
BA: Genoa and Cannes boat shows. In Cannes Ameryachts has been awarded as the best 2019 semicustom design for the project Amer F 100 by World Yacht Trophies. The next event will be in China Ocean forum in Xiamen IN November concerning eco design project. In the meantime by A'design award we have been selected to partecipate in India and China design events with our previous A'design gold awarded project. So grateful for the international visibility received patecipating to A Design competition.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
BA: experience at the sea, talking with the users, knowing deeply competitors to do different and make a a strategic work to discover or obtaining , space optimization and innovative adoptable solutions

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
BA: From the past you recognize our style by armonia and simmetria tipical of Palladio ispiration, Vitruvian teory, no excess and a sophisticated equilibrium. From the future a mixture of new technologies, aerospace solutions for a magic sensation to be connected with the nature and the sea in a safety and very comfortable way.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
BA: Living in Italy history and culture are part of our Heritage as well as creativity and the beauty value. what is changing is luxury meaning you can create a beautiful object promoting only its intrinsic and hidden ethic value and obtain the same success using a different Language.

FS: How do you work with companies?
BA: We work with suppliers to obtain innovation and teaching them to have a green approach in their work with us.

FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
BA: Young students are usually open mind and green oriented, I like working with. Energies and new creative points of view

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
BA: We are a team discussing in progression all the design steps. We start from drawings and a small scale model to point out all the building process. Each one is involved bringing his idea and the final result is a multiminded project with different smart ideas shared and voted. At the end we summarize in an article the spirit of the adventure and the adv campaign ispiration is clear to be transmitted.

FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home?
BA: a years 30' chair with Lettera 22 Olivetti typewriters, Frau blue eletric sofà, lightened Freego door handles, Artemide light.

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
BA: by foot I reach my office in the new Harbour, I take my time to read daily news starting from Local, national and international info, after I start my work that is never the same. Sometimes I meet my clients, my suppliers , my team for the new projects. The shipyard is 300 kms from my office so periodically we go there for the supervision and the work in progress of the units in construction, boat shows, school education programs with Design school or local school and institutional work with nautical organization and industrial organization for my personal contribution to the community.

FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
BA: start work in your favorite sector and be like a sponge, create your own point of view, your own style. Read all you can about the Others to become different. Try to change the future with your ideas.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
BA: iconic designers and big projects are a selected world, product designers are a big Platform where good designers could find a right position and a great success.

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
BA: company Advisor to create new industrial tendencies to be followed as positive example

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
BA: Flexibility, interaction with different fields : automotive, aerospace, product design, ecosustainabilty in terms of contamination.

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
BA: Each one has is own, most of all use software, I prefer to study, read and writing.

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
BA: being a multitasking team we try to optimize time, meeting and brain storming. We are always in hurry but we try to keeping away from work burnout that is a negative consequence of the hard work.

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
BA: for a new boat model the process could take 3 years.

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
BA: Could be designed for me only ? Unicity.

FS: What was your most important job experience?
BA: Amer 94 save the sea has gain 10 nomination and 7 awards. A real milestone for us.

FS: Who are some of your clients?
BA: Italian, European, International ones. Our custom adaptable way of building represent no limits for the sale and a personal interpretation of each style mantaining a brand printing.

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
BA: New external lines, is like in fashion with your new design you could change buyer decision and taste.

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
BA: I'm actually working for a new cradle-to-cradle project built for dissambling at the end of life. A circular economy boat.

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
BA: By a team. Ameryachts team is a very advanced team including suppliers innovation and research support, architect , naval architect , naval engineers.

FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
BA: We are designing a new wheelhouse.
