Interview with Chih-yuan, Hung at Saturday 4th of May 2019 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? CH: I was enlightened by a professor at the university level. I took the road of architectural design and never stopped. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? CH: My journey to becoming a designer started back on a journey to India in 2008.Sometime in my first few years in the real world, it dawned on me that design plays a major role in communicating at all levels.but we are so in love in the relationship between human & space around it. FS: What is "design" for you? CH: An expression of civilization in the smallest or largest form. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? CH: Education and cultural architecture.Display design and museum FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? CH: This question is very amusing, but what we like most in design is to enjoy every problem solving and propose the most elegant solution. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? CH: A large-scale public space summer vacation stall with a display space for public participation FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? CH: We love to find any material that can express emotions for a special space expression. We love the emotion of materials. So we don’t limit the use of materials.even look forward to find out more FS: When do you feel the most creative? CH: when I am alone FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? CH: Whether it can show the emotionality of space FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? CH: Isolated.happiness FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? CH: Like Andy Dufresne of The Shawshank Redemption getting out the prison. FS: What makes a design successful? CH: the emotionality of space and the feeling come with it FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? CH: Does the design team present the correct expression? FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? CH: Keep the planet's environmental protection and sustainability FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? CH: Like the artists of the Renaissance, the boundaries of the profession are no longer important. Only the sensibility FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? CH: We have three exciting exhibitions at the same time, and we hope to have a chance to share with you soon. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? CH: nature.everything about the nature. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? CH: We continue to advance in the field of sensibility, hoping to create a Morning light.wind in summer light FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? CH: Taichung, a small city in central Taiwan.Taiwan’s space design industry is very mature and very commercial, and it is both an advantage and a disadvantage. FS: How do you work with companies? CH: Most of the time I personally decide all the design directions, and then deepen with the strength of the team. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? CH: Depending how the companies appreciate. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? CH: first coffee.and wonder how a project could bring out a sense of character in my sight of view.and draw in many possible way. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? CH: Iphone, tom dixon.toys FS: Can you describe a day in your life? CH: movie.pen .coffe. FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? CH: don't stop FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? CH: don't stop FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? CH: always stay true FS: What skills are most important for a designer? CH: effort FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? CH: Pencil and paper. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? CH: i don't.may the force be with you.you know its true FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? CH: 1-2 weeks or even longer FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? CH: Why do you want to be a designer? FS: What was your most important job experience? CH: Every single one of them FS: Who are some of your clients? CH: secrecy FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? CH: Sketching & researching FS: What are your future plans?
