FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
RTU: A natural desire to create made us to become a designers.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
RTU: It is a small company established in 2010 in Lithuania. Company specializes in highest quality audio equipment products – turntables, tonearms and their accessories. Company has design department.

FS: What is "design" for you?
RTU: Design is a challenge to create better than we had created yesterday.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
RTU: Highest quality audio equipment.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
RTU: Technical minimalism which reflects in audio equipment design of 1935 – 1939 years and 1980 – 1989 years periods.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
RTU: The firs design of our company was a tonearm called 'Reed 2A'.

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
RTU: Natural and durable materials are our favorite.

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
RTU: We feet the most creative when we receive recognition for ours designs.

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
RTU: During designing we are focusing on novelty and ergonomics.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
RTU: A sense of self-knowledge.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
RTU: Happiness and satisfaction.

FS: What makes a design successful?
RTU: Unexpected solution makes a design successful.

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
RTU: Visual attractiveness and it’s adaptation in the environment as an art accent.

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
RTU: Do not pollute the environment with bad design solutions.

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
RTU: Design field is evolving to functional minimalism. Future of design is to reject unnecessary details.

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
RTU: Our last exhibition was Audio Show Oto-Ten 2018 in Japan. Now we are planning to participate at Munich High End show at Munich, Germany 2019m.

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
RTU: Inspiration of our works comes from nature study.

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
RTU: Art deco and Art Nouveau are our design styles. Natural wavy lines made us to explore these styles and to apply these styles some characteristics in our designs.

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
RTU: We live in Lithuania. We feel that cultural heritage of our country affects some of ours design solutions.

FS: Can you talk a little about your design process?
RTU: Our design process is like climbing into the mountain, and at the same time already thinking about next higher mountain.

FS: Can you describe a day in your life?
RTU: A day is a gift full of surprises. And with every day this gift is becoming bigger.

FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
RTU: Positive points of designer are a possibility of creating something unseen, creative process, recognition, reward. But at the same time creative process is complicated and it has some creative holes.

FS: What is your "golden rule" in design?
RTU: Effort is not a result. The result must satisfy yourself at first and then there is a bigger possibility that it will satisfy your client.

FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
RTU: The most important skills of designer are: to have visual sensibility, dimensional/spatial thinking and ability to apply this.

FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
RTU: The main toon is white plane paper and pencil. After that goes Solid Works software. The main inspirations source is nature.

FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
RTU: Mostly we work with few projects at the same time.

FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
RTU: It depends on what complexity an object is.

FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
RTU: The most frequently question is how much our products costs.

FS: What was your most important job experience?
RTU: The most important job experience for us is collective creation.

FS: Who are some of your clients?
RTU: Our client is a true audio passionate.

FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
RTU: Objects of controlled minimalism we enjoy the most for their simple form functionality.

FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you?
RTU: Our future plan is to influence as much as we can young designers to create new designs.

FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
RTU: We work as a team. This is the best way to learn new things from each other and to improve our selves as a team and as a personal designer as well.

FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about?
RTU: We always have new works and new ideas, but we will talk about them when they will be realized.
