FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
DDA: I graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University with Honors in interior design, after years of service in well-renowned interior design companies including International firm like Cheung Kong Holdings and Kinney Chan & Associates (founded by the ex-chairman of Hong Kong Interior Design Association), I set up Darren Design Studio in 2001.
FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
DDA: Founded in 2001, Darren Design & Associates (DDA) offers a full range of interior design and project management services that span across residential, retail and other cooperate and commercial projects like office, club house and show flat designs.
FS: What is "design" for you?
DDA: Interior design is all about space. I define SPACE with my own styles: Signature, Prestige, Asian, Concise and Eclectic.
FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
DDA: Modern and minimalist style. In Hong Kong, we usually do residential projects of area less than 100 square meter. It is a challenging experience as we need to make use of every available space.
