Interview with Morris Chi at Saturday 28th of April 2018 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? MC: I loved drawing and designing arts since I was a child until I contacted animation and started my life of animation design. I hope to move people with animation. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? MC: My job was established because of my graduation production. We all hope that we can work beyond the expectations of everyone. FS: What is "design" for you? MC: I think design is a fusion of beauty and content. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? MC: I like the illustration style animation FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? MC: I like works that combine both beauty and content. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? MC: Company's LOGO animation FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? MC: I like to try different media designs FS: When do you feel the most creative? MC: When listening to music FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? MC: Can you let the audience feel what I want to say. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? MC: Between calm and excitement FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? MC: Very excited and exciting FS: What makes a design successful? MC: Audience feels empathetic towards the work FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? MC: What conveys the sense of beauty FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? MC: Communicate the right information and improve the quality of society FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? MC: Design will be closely integrated with our lives in the future FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? MC: nothing now FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? MC: Usually see the exhibition, listen to music, and collect information on the Internet FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? MC: I don't have a certain style, I like it, and my works will be rich FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? MC: I come from Taiwan, design is full of life, but the market is small and under-funded FS: How do you work with companies? MC: First understand the company's habits FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
